Ugh! Norrie was blown out by Zeppiere 3 and 1 early this morning in Italy.
Apparently, neither Tadeas Paroulek nor Tomas Jirousek on on campus this fall. They are both listed as alternates for the qualies for a tourney in Czechia starting next week. It's way oversubscribed and they'll be lucky just to make it in if someone withdraws.

Cam Norrie has decided to play one more tune-up tourney on clay prior to the French Open. He's into the main draw (Round of 32) at the Forli Challenger in Italy and will play early tomorrow morning against Christian Harrison, an unranked 26-year old American, who is the younger brother of Ryan Harrison. He's mostly been inactive for a couple of years, but he did win 2 qualie rounds to advance to the main draw.
I've looked and looked but have been unable to find any Frog results as yet from the various ITA Fall Circuit events that started this weekend.

Cam Norrie barely survived against Harrison at Forli this morning 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 and has advanced to the Round of 16 where he will play Andrea Pellegrino, a 23-year old Italian who is ranked #341. Cam is now at #68 so he should be favored but it's on clay and at home for Pellegrino.
Meanwhile, in Prague, over the weekend, both Tadeas Paroulek and Tomas Jirousek made it into the ITF Futures tourney in Czechia - Jirousek lost in the first round 6-4, 2-6, 1-10; Paroulek made it to the 2nd round before losing 3-6, 7-5, 2-10.

Cam fell to a lower ranked hometown player yet again - losing 2 and 4 this morning to Pellegrino at Forli in the Round of 16. He's still in the doubles though; teaming with fellow Brit Lloyd Glasspool, they've advanced to the quarters. The French Open qualies start Sunday and the main draw should be announced shortly.

I used to think clay is where Norrie could have a lot of success but his game hasn't evolved as much as I thought it would. Definitely most comfortable on hard courts. And even grass is probably a better fit than clay

The French Open draw was just announced from Roland Garros and Cam Norrie will play a qualifier in the first round (which will be determined by Sunday). If he wins that, it'll be the winner of Sandgren/Hurkacz in the 2nd round. And if he were to advance there, it'd likely be Djokovic. So, unlike the U.S. Open, a potentially good first rounder, a tough 2nd rounder and an almost certain blowout loss if he got to the third round.
Norrie/Glasspool withdrew from the Forli doubles and gave their opponenets a walkover. Not sure why.

Cam Norrie's first round opponent at Roland Garros has been determined after three rounds of qualies. He'll play 24-year old 6'3" Colombian Daniel Elahi Galan, who is ranked at ATP#152. The timing is still TBD. Norrie (now ATP#71) will be favored but I'm not all that confident after his recent losses on clay to lower ranked opponents.

Reese Stalder and Nick Chappell have been in Egypt the past 2 weeks and have had a little success getting back into regular play. Nick won 4 rounds and made it to the finals before losing last week to Latvian Martin Podzus 4-6, 6-1, 5-7. Nick is now up to ATP# 445 and will play Shintaro Mochizuki tomorrow morning. Reese made it through qualies last week but lost in the first round of the main draw. He lost today in doubles (teaming with Felix Corwin).
Cam Norrie is now in St. Petersburg, which is indoors and NOT on clay. He got a very good win over Taylor Fritz (who was the 8th seed) yesterday 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 and will play Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic tomorrow. In doubles, he's teaming with Fritz and they're currently playing fellow Brits Glasspool and Evans right now (they're trailing).

At St. Petersburg this morning, Cam Norrie beat Kecmanovic in a 3-setter 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3 and has advanced to the quarters in Russia. And in doubles, he and Taylor Fritz rallied back to beat Glasspool/Evans 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 and have also advanced to the quarters.
But in Egypt, Nick Chappell lost to Mochizuki in a tough 3-setter 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (7-9) and is now out of the singles there. But he's still alive in the doubles; teaming with Jordan Butsch.

Norrie and Fritz lost 4 and 4 to Demoliner/Middelkoop today in the quarters in St. Pete. But Cam's quarters' opponent in singles has been determined for tomorrow - it'll be Andrey Rublev, the 3rd seed and ATP #10. Beating the Russian at "home" will be difficult but it could qualify as one of Cam's biggest upsets ever if he can pull it off.

Rublev isn’t an awful matchup for Norrie. Who knows though.
How has Chappell funded his career? Must have some money backing him or something.

Cam has now achieved 50 career ATP W's. His previous best result was a W over then-#10 John Isner in Acapulco - this would match it.
Nick has earned 50.1 thousand euros in his career and 3.7 thousand this year. That's really not enough to fund a 6-year career (although he's probably making at least some money on sponsorships). I'm guessing his parents have some money - I don't know. At Sharm El Sheikh, he and Butsch will be facing Mochizuki/Noguchi tomorrow. He's been in Egypt for nearly a month now - probably at a low-cost hotel.

Alastair Gray has now joined Nick Chappell in Egypt and he advanced 2 rounds in the qualies before losing today to Ukranian Yuri Dzhavakian (ATP#851) 6-0, 5-7, 6-10. Nick is scheduled to play in the main draw tomorrow against Russian Savriyan Danilov (ATP#578). Ali is now ATP # 1085 and Nick is #445.

Cam Norrie's next opponent at Antwerp in the European Open has been set - it'll be 5th seeded and ATP#19th Milos Raonic, from Canada. Like with Rublev, this'll be a tough test for the Camster. Raonic has a career high of #3 in the world.

Unfortunately Raonic pulled out of his next match against Dimitrov with an injury. One round too late!
