Well never mind. The link doesn't work. Anyway, someone decorated the surfer statue near San Diego with a TCU helmet, jersey and welcome home balloons for a couple of TCU students, presumeably. If I can get the pic to link, I'll try again.

The Cardiff Kook is a statue that everyone hated when it was erected. So, they have fun with it. It gets some wild set ups and decorations. So many that it even has it's own calendar. It's located in Cardiff-by-the-Sea at San Elijo state beach. About 20 minutes North of San Diego.

If you want to see the TCU Kook try-www.thecardiffkook.org/blog/12162012-kookys-tcu-welcome-hc. If that doesn't work, google-cardiff kook TCU. That's how I found it.

Drive pass this guy twice a week.

Go Frogs! See you in Tempe!

Been out here for a few weeks and met a parent from Laguna Niguel whose kid is a freshman at TCU. Was bummed that 7 other kids from there ended up at TCU as he had hoped to "get away".... Starting to remind me of the KC-STL-ChiTown connection when I was here late 80's / early 90's

My uncle lives in Solano Beach and he just emailed me a pic of the surfer, asking me what the deal was and why he was dressed up in TCU gear. Like you said, he said that everyone hated it when it was first erected, but it's grown on people and now everyone loves it.

He just seemed very surprised to see a surfer statue on the west coast dressed up in a jersey and football helmet from Cowtown

He probably saw the statue when he returned from a 47 mile swim, that involved killing 3 sharks and a boat-full of Mexican drug runners. That is, if you're talking about Hal.

Ha, yeah that's who I'm talking about

He did say the statue was dressed up in a Navy SEAL get-up a couple years ago after a SEAL was killed in action. Sounds like a pretty cool little tradition they got going on there
