Congrats to Stefano Mazzoli, who won all three of his matches this week to help Continental Europe to a 15.5 to 9.5 win over Great Britain & Ireland in the St. Andrews Cup. Stefano made 8 birdies in 15 holes during his 3&2 singles win on Friday afternoon. He also teamed with countryman Lorenzo Scalise for a pair of alternate-shot wins on Thursday and Friday morning.

The competition was tied going into Friday p.m. singles, but Continental Europe won 7.5 of 9 points to win going away. Stefano played the anchor match.

Triston Fisher qualified for the U.S. Amateur He was +1 at Spyglass Hill on the first day of stroke play. Today at Pebble Beach, though, he shot +5, with 4 strokes lost on the tough series of seaside par fours, holes 8-10. That will keep him from advancing to match play, but kudos to Triston for qualifying (no small feat). And a bad day at Pebble Beach is still better than most days elsewhere. Or so I've heard.

By the way, Triston shot 64-67 (-11) to top a 78-man field in the qualifier at Texas Star in July.

Other Frogs also acquited themselves well. Turner Maclean was first alternate at Texas Star, shooting 70-65 to finish T3. Hayden Springer finished T4 at the qualifier at Maridoe, just missing an alternate spot.
