Credit to the TCU men for putting the hammer down with good scoring conditions in Hawaii. They are -35 through 2 rounds, good for second place at the Ka’anapali Classic. It's not a super-strong field, but TCU leads a decent Kansas team by 17 shots and Colorado by 9.

Great to see the Frogs gaining some momentum to finish the fall slate. Continuing to get separation in tomorrow's final round will be key to their post-season chances.

Great to see Sam Udovich breaking out, shooting 65-64 for a share of 2nd with Walker Cupper Jase Summy. Jack Beauchamp (67-66) is also in the top 10, and Toby Wilt (66-68) is T12.

TCU men finish 54 holes in Hawaii at -51, which I suspect is a school record. They finish second to Oklahoma, and finish 4 ahead of Georgia and at least 11 shots clear of 16 other teams.

Sam Udovich shoots 65-64-65 to finish second by a shot. The -19 total ties David Ravetto's school record in relation to par, and I think 194 breaks the record for 54-hole score (data goes back to 1993).

Jack Beauchamp finishes T7 at -13 and Toby Wilt was T11 at -12. Great week for the men to finish their fall slate.

Congrats to Stefano Mazzoli for his runner-up finish at the Rolex Grand Final on the Euro Challenge Tour. He earns his DP World Tour card, as does countryman Filippo Celli. Celli had his card locked up, but Mazzoli needed a strong week and got it.

Today is signing day for most college sports--well, it opens the signing period. TCU men have commitments from 2 of the top 50 players and have just posted that Cameron Kuchar has signed. Blake Brown is the other top junior expected to sign with the Frogs.

I know less about the TCU women's expected signees; none of the top-50 domestic players are expected to sign, so the incoming class may have more of a European flavor. More to come.

Edit: Brown also signed for the men. Good day for them. The women signed Ella Forss of Sweden and Henriette Gjelten of Norway. Both have done well against local junior competition; neither is ranked particularly high in WAGR (yet).

Stefano Mazzoli makes his first cut on the DP World Tour on the number. His 70-70-70 at the Australian PGA isn't really worth a post, except to say that he's 7 shots back of 48-year-old Geoff Ogilvy, who, between designing courses, doing golf broadcasts, and captaining the Presidents Cup team, rolls out of bed and shoots 69-68-66 at Royal Queensland. Guy just effortlessly wins at everything.

Edit: Ha--Mazzoli posts a final-round 66 to finish ahead of Ogilvy, who shoots 76. Golf.

No Laying Up challenges Tom Hoge to hit shots to specified yardages varying from 50 to 235 yards. He acquits himself well in the challenge, while also describing how he practices and thinks about shaping/flighting shots.

I was remiss in giving attention to accomplishments by Horned Frog golfers over the holidays. Several of the men had top-20 finishes in amateur events--you can see those on X. But one Frog won a PGA of America event last month--by 7 shots--and brought some exposure to the program via the NBC broadcast.

Incoming freshman Cameron Kuchar (and his dad) teamed up to win the PNC Championship, shooting 57-54 in a two-man scramble format to beat Team Daly and Team Love by 7 shots. Video of the younger Kuchar driving the green on one hole:

Spring golf is officially underway, as the women are on the course in Guadalajara.

What's interesting about the lineup is not just that Sofie Dimitrova is in the lineup, but that she's playing in the 3 spot, ahead of Angosta and Barroso Sá. Could be a sign that Dimitrova has elevated her game, or that the others are still looking to regain last year's form.

The 12-team field doesn't have any teams in the top 15, but half the field is ranked between 28 and 43, so the tournament is wide open.

TCU women haven't played well in Guadalajara--four of the five players are in the bottom half of the field. But the other, Camille Min-Gaultier, is in a four-way tie for the lead at -4 with two holes to play.

Update: Camille finishes T2. Frogs finish 8th.

TCU men kick off their fall slate in Puerto Rico tomorrow. It's a 14-team field that isn't especially strong (Wake is the highest-ranked team at #25.) Frogs are paired with Rutgers, Michigan and Wofford. Lineup includes the Wilt brothers, Beauchamp, Udovich, and Miller, with Wylie playing as an individual.

TCU retweeted a Bluejack Ranch photo op with Tiger. Hadn't realized that Andy Mitchell and Tiger had jumped into J.J. Henry's former Avanzada project. Would be a nice addition if the Frogs could get access. The course will certainly be long enough for college golf, as they've added back tees to stretch the 7,520-yard course to nearly 7,900. And while the club's press emphasizes low-density, the course map shows a lot of houses flanking two-hole-wide corridors.

Meanwhile, the DP World Tour is in Qatar, and Jacob Skov Olesen is solo second with a round to play, two shots back of Patrick Reed. Winner will pocket $467,000; runner-up gets $302,000.

Great play by the Frogs today In Round 2 in Puerto Rico. TCU shoots the low round of the tournament (-15), going 67-68-69-69 to catch Wake Forest at the top of the leaderboard. Both schools are 8 shots up on third-place Rhode Island. Beauchamp is solo 3rd, two shots out of the lead. Udovich is T4.

Wake Forest's top pair shot 66-68 and the Deacs pulled away early, but TCU played steady, posted four scores in the red for the second straight day, and got a solid runner-up finish. Team-wise, it was mission accomplished--they beat 12 teams they were supposed to beat and lifted their season record over .500.

Jack Beauchamp was ranked as the third-best player in the field (97th nationally) and finished T3; Sam Udovich was ranked eighth-best in the field (131st overall) and finished T7--so it was chalk across the board.

Glad to see the men pick up where they left off in the fall. It's a young team that is maturing.
