When darkness ended play in Philly, Jack Beauchamp was Even through 35 holes, with the 18th still to play at Merion. He is two shots inside the cut line.

Travis Woolf had a 69 yesterday at Philadelphia Athletic Club, but his 77 today at Merion means he will not advance to match play.

Beauchamp pars the last to go into match play as the 24th seed. He faces off this morning against UNC junior Hampton Roberts. Roberts was runner-up in the 2025 Amer Ari tournament and also had a top 10 at the Tarheel Invitational. Go Jack!

Beauchamp wins, 2&1. Tomorrow will be a 36-hole day. He is likely to get U. Alabama's William Jennings, the 5th-ranked amateur and runner up at nationals, in the morning round.

If you're going to exit the US Amateur, you at least want to go down to a guy who takes it (as opposed to the two matches yesterday won on the 18th with double-bogey). William Jennings plays holes 10-15 at Merion in 5 under, including a walk-off eagle on the 416-yard 15th, to beat Jack Beauchamp 4 & 3.

I don't know who has bad things to say about Merion, but I'm not one of them. Just looks like a blast to play, especially for match play.

I actually don't like the baskets at Merion. Good shots can carom way too far. There's enough trouble on the course.

Was thinking about that yesterday when watching highlights of guys playing the 119-yard 13th--6 of the 8 hit it close and a couple weren't far from colliding with the basket. (See 4:52, 10:25, 13:50 & 21:05.)

But I still love the wickers. Here's a video on their care & maintenance. A woman from West Virginia does the weaving. Paint colors are based on the touch-up spray for the mowers. And the stick manufacturer tooled a custom machine for them.

Filippo Celli with a back-door T2 at the DP World Tour event in Denmark. He closed with a 66 and moved up 60 spots into the top 100 of that tour's rankings.

Native son Jacob Skov Olesen finished T9 in the same event to move into the top 20 of the rankings.
