With June nearly done, here's an update on some of the early summer play of TCU players.
Celli's European Am win (see above) tops the list. Was nice that the GoFrogs article mentioned Stefano Mazzoli as a former winner.
Jacob Skov Olesen won the Danish National Match Play Championship, winning 6 rounds of match play against a 64-man field. He saw the 18th hole only once in the event and won the final 4&2.
Gustav Frimodt qualified for match play at the (British) Amateur Championship and won a match before exiting in the Round of 32.
Brett Hamm finished T4 in a field of 81 at the Rice Planters Amateur in South Carolina, shooting 70-70-69.
Sabrina Iqbal was runner up in the Texas Women's Open, shooting -11 with a second-round 65 at Wildhorse. She was one shot out of a playoff.
Incoming freshman Sofia Barroso Sá finished T3 in the Spanish International Ladies' Amateur Championship. She shot 143 to qualify for match play and then won 3 matches before bowing out in the semifinals.
Lois Lau made the quarters of the French Ladies Championship Gaveau Cup, shooting 142 to make match play and rolling through her first two matches 5&3 and 8&6 before a tight 2&1 loss in the final 8 to the eventual champ.
Avery Blake and Trinity King finished joint runners-up in the Metroplex College Open on the Texas Collegiate Amateur Tour, shooting 222 over three rounds at Southern Oaks in Burleson to finish 3 back of University of North Texas's Audrey Tan. Good to see Avery playing well in competition.
Sabrina Nguyen finished T12 in an 80+ player qualifier in California for the U.S. Women's Amateur. She missed qualifying by 3 shots.
I may have missed some--please chime in with updates!
