TCU's players have begun to make the turn in Albuquerque. Valeria Pacheco just eagled the 9th hole and the Frogs are even for the day, +7 for the tournament. They are still holding onto fourth place as they seek the last of the four qualifying spots for nationals.
They have widened the margin over playing partners Arizona and Florida to 4 and 6 shots--which is saying something, as 9 of the 10 starters on those teams are ranked among the top 300 world amateurs, while 2 of TCU's starters are outside of the top 800 in WAGR.
More surprising is that the Frogs' closest challenger is Sam Houston State, a team outside the top 50 which has essentially been playing with 4 players; the other was subbed out after posting 84-84 over the first two rounds. Bearkats are 3 shots back playing on the opposite nine.
TCU did not finish strong in either of the first two rounds--+7 on their final three holes. They need a good finish today.
Edit: And just as I posted that, a couple of bogeys have the Frogs' margin down to 1. Will be a tense final nine holes.
