We all know about the cheating that took place back in the 80s. TCU, like many schools, served its time. But is there a different form of cheating happening right now? Some football players, like yours truly, practiced only during the official designated after school times monday-friday with the team and then went home. Weekends, if there was no game, were spent chillaxing.
Steel has it on good authority that many of the current players are using their own time to do more drilling, or getting up early to do lifting or conditioning, or coming in on the weekends to do extra practicing. Steel has it on good authority that the TCU coaches know that the players are working extra hard to get bigger, stronger, faster than their opponents--in a sense condoning this anti-competitive behavior.
Isn't this kind of like cheating? Because they're getting an unfair advantage over other football players who don't have the extra time or inclination to do all that extra practicing or to sweat extra, etc. etc.
Practicing should be restricted to official times so nobody gets an unfair advantage.
