Coming off the Frogs' biggest upset of the year (a 4-0 sweep of Duke) last night at the USTA National Tennis Center at Lake Nona, TCU's men's tennis team just upset the 12th ranked Florida Gators 4-3 in Gainesville to complete an undefeated Spring Break road trip to Florida. The Frogs took the doubles point with wins by Rybakov/Nunez over the #1 ranked doubles team in the nation (Alfredo Perez and Johannes Ingildsen) as well as Stalder/Kruger. In the singles, we got off to an awful start by losing 5 1st sets (Trevor Johnson was the only Frog to win his), but then stormed back by taking all but one match into a third set, and then Reese Stalder and Alex Rybakov won their 3rd sets. But Florida then mounted a huge comeback and took 3 matches tying the score 3-all, and it all came down to Guillermo "the Little Beast" Nunez, who got a key break to go up 5-3 and serve for the clincher. But Duerte Vale (the Gator) immediately broke back to get it back on serve. But the Little Beast then broke back at love and, after nearly 3 and a half hours of grueling extremely competitive tennis, Nunez clinched it for the Frogs, breaking Florida's two-match winning streak against us.

Coach Roditi said that "win or lose, that was a helluva college match." TCU is now 9-3 and will definitely move up the rankings (now 32nd) after two big upsets, probably back into the Top 25, maybe much higher. With UT, TCU is a co-favorite for the Big12, we started at #10 in the nation, and we're looking to defend our back-to-back championships this season. Columbia is next at home on Sunday.
