TCU 360: Jason Verrett: "I didn’t get to be at home with my family, but I got to have my teammates as my family."

By J.D. Moore

Following TCU's 20-13 win over Texas, Jason Verrett said that despite not having his mother's turkey and cooking, he was pleased with his Thanksgiving.

“You know, I didn’t get to be at home with my family, but I got to have my teammates as my family," he said. "We’re played as a unit, we’re thankful for the win and we were thankful we were here today.”

Here are some more quotes and highlights from players following TCU's Thanksgiving victory:
Cornerback Jason Verrett:

On his season statistics:
“I came in to work hard. I’m here to be a good teammate and a good captain. I’m trying to make plays.” ...

Good times and good memories...I hope to see him at the next level

I laughed when I saw Ash (and later McCoy) throwing passes to Verrett's side of the field! Told the Horn fans behind me that those play calls weren't going to go well for them, their OC might want to rethink that strategy.

Personally, I believe that Verrett has a strong chance to be a first team All American next year. He is developing the reputation this year that will lead to the pre-season hype next year. The guy is just getting better and better game by game. He certainly is among the best corners that we have had during the Patterson era.

I love when Verrett picks a pass! I wish after he does it he would scream, Mine! Verrett has stepped up! I can't wait to see Jenkins back their with him.....

[WIN]

And to think he almost walked away after last year's baylor game!

I told the group I was watching with the same thing. "You'd think they'd have learned by now not to do that."

Sounds like you were a popular guy at the stadium

You WILL see him at the next level. An agent friend of mine texted me after game saying one pro scout said Verrett could start now.

He is as good a corner as I've seen in a long time. Goss, Priest and a few others were excellent but Verrett matches them all.

I hope he stays for his senior year. I'm thinking he will, but he is certainly NFL caliber now
