Playing these second/third level teams really hurts rankings, doesn't it? Just look at the opponents for the U of Alabama in the next four years: Western Carolina, Georgia State, U T Martin, Mercer, ULM, Central Michigan, Western Kentucky. Amazing.

Tarelton would easily beat SWAC teams. I'd rather play Tarleton than a SWAC opponent

That's your opinion but it would be a wrong opinion in the majority of cases. Tarleton might beat some of the lower tier SWAC opponents in the same manner that they beat SFA (a low team in its conference). But it wouldn't beat them "easily" and would get destroyed by several. Those 36 equivalency scholarships simply don't hold up to FBS and FCS cases very often and rarely, rarely do they do so "easily".
