According to ESPN TCU now offered DB Taion Sells who is currently committed to Baylor. 5'10" 180 with 4.43 40. Interested to hear if he will take a visit.

TCU with a number of late offers including to Baylor commits? This many offers this late normal? Only 3-4 spots left I assume.

Could it have anything to do with much of the media recently naming TCU as pre-season pick in the B12 next year? Maybe they’re trying to capitalize newly added street cred. Why not try, someone might bite.

It still baffles me that any recruit would chose BayLOL over TCU for any reason outside of religious affiliation.

Fort Worth > Waco
TCU Girls > BayLOL girls
TCU Campus > BayLOL Campus
TCU Facilities > BayLOL Facilities
TCU Tradition > BayLOL Tradition

etc.

Seems like we make a number of late/last-minute offers each year. It's not too uncommon for someone not to get an offer until they come take their official visit. Others even later - as I recall, we offered Collins and Kindred last year with just a day or two to go before signing day.

Unfortunately.....

TCU---Liberal University. Christian only in name.
Baylor---Conservative University--actively Christian

Many parents are more comfortable sending their kids to a conservative Christian University

I know this to be true during the ''90s" and early 2000s. I suppose it's reasonable that this feeling persists. Would note that there are multiple levels of this "conservatism" and many would place BU at the marginally conservative end of the spectrum. But there's no doubt that BU would be perceived as the most conservative of the major private schools in TX.

TCU late to the party with many Baylor players (Robbie Rhodes, Rammi Hamad, KJ Smith, Travon Blanchard, Taion Sells, Xavier Phillips). Not good.

We were on Robbie Rhodes very early

We've been keeping Xavier Phillips warm this whole time as well, just haven't offered. Recruiting him since the beginning though.

That's a reach! Really nothing to do with the subject matter.

I'm certainly not a Baylor fan, but what I stated is pretty well fact.

TCU has many more advantages, but this subject is not even debateable.

Is it a reach that the women's basketball team had vacate their national championship for illegal recruiting?

It may help with parents, but my guess is that Baylor's super-conservative "culture" (or whatever you want to call it) hurts more in it's recruitment of 17 yr old athletes than it helps.
