Oh, the beating is coming in a coupe of days. But the stupid of the Crack Staff's approach to game strategy and player evaluation has to be laid bare, and I expect a good BYU team to do precisely that.

After that, the avenue opens for a new approach. A fresh start.
I concur but knowing some of the major players in charge of the direction of the football program (Kit, Pullin, Buddie), do you really see anything positive for a termination of Sonny & Co?

There is no way that TCU can afford to fire Sony and his band of bunglers. As many have pointed out, such a move would be financially backbreaking, and would leave us without funds to hire a future HC and staff. No, we're stuck with Sonny for at least this year and next.

My thought was that whatever plans Sonny and his brain trust had for the season, they are out the window. Saturday's pending annihilation will finish stamping the ruins of their plans into unrecognizable paste. With 3 losses, 2 in Conference, we are done with any hopes of Playoffs or a Conference Championship. It would be a good time to quit pretending that Mr. Harvard has what it takes, and sit him down. Sit the guys who are not performing on the O-line, D-line, etc., and give the kids a chance. Essentially, start over with the kids who will be your starters next season. Sure, they'll have some rough patches, and may not win a bunch, but they'll play their hearts out and be far more ready for next year than they would be watching what we've been watching for the last five weeks.

I’m with you on giving younger guys opportunities, especially if someone clearly isn’t performing. But I really disagree with just sitting Craig and essentially treating the rest of the season like an extended spring practice.
This is a senior who transferred from Harvard to TCU for his final year and came here to help this team win. Has he been perfect? Absolutely not. But I also don’t think QB has been remotely the biggest problem with this team.
If someone beats Craig out because they give TCU a better chance to win, fine. But benching a senior simply because he won’t be here next year doesn’t sit right with me. You still owe it to the seniors—and everybody else in that locker room—to try to win the games in front of you. But, just my opinion.

If we continue losing, we can't afford not to.

He came to Fort Worth for the money. $2.8 million of it, allegedly. He has no previous ties to TCU, and had likely never heard of the place until Sonny started waving a wad of Benjamins in his grill. That he is a senior is irrelevant in terms of this team and University, as he is a stranger. Had he been here for 4 years, this would be different, but the Team has essentially had this guy plunked down in front of him, and the Head Coach told them, "This is Mr. Harvard. He is your new Captain, and leader of this team. He'll be wearing a name tag for a few weeks so you can get familiar with him. Now, I'm paying him a lot of money so I can look good, so you all go and play your hearts out for... um... Oh, yeah! Mr. Harvard. Oh, and you kids that have been studying and working hard these last years, Thinking you're going to get a sniff of playing time? Well, tough. This is the Shiny New Toy, and I paid a lot for him, so you get splinters in your ass for another year."

While you are completely correct that Mr. Harvard is not the sole source of problems, he is Sonny's Choice, and Sonny will keep using progressively larger hammers in an effort to make that square peg fit in the round hole. I don't believe that he is the "best" QB on the team at all, given what we have seen, and we all know Sonny's "talent" for picking the very best. To me, he is a symbol of the whole wretched state Sonny has put us in, and he'll keep trotting the guy out there, thinking that "This is the series where he turns it all around. This one..."

It's not going to happen. And I can't help but think there is a great deal of resentment on this Frog team as to how they've been treated.

I’m not quite ready to bench JC just yet, but I would like to see SD sit him down for a series or two if continues to make poor plays or lack of decisions. While is play has been frustrating to watch, he is not the problem with this team. Lack of concentration, execution, and undisciplined play by his team mates are the real issue, especially with the OL, who are not as advertised by SD at the beginning of this season. And to Sammis… stop running to the left on every run play, your wasting downs…

I concur in that Craig is not the primary problem as there are a multiude of them. He needs about 3 seconds to get the pass off which against UCF that was about 50% of the time. We also need to remember that UCF will battle us for last place in the conference. BYU is going to bring it because they know we have no run game and there will be a substantial difference between UCF and BYU.

The resentment by the team is something we may never know. I guess what I should say is degree of resentment. It is there. but how much on a scale of 1-100. I think it greater than 50% from the OL and will fester to a larger number with non-corrected behavior.

The flaws in the QBs footwork are worse than it was @ Carolina. Check out tomorrow if his happy feet are more than they were against UCF. The "top of the drop" and where he sets his feet will tell us a lot.

Can we hire that lady who did the team seminars for Mel Tucker's Spartans to come to TCU and get friendly with our coach? She saved MSU about $90M in one phone call. Although they're still dreadful...

This thread has aged well. The only downside I can see is that if he succeeds then Indiana swoops in and poaches him with their Mark Cuban money (Need more TCU billionaires!), so maybe we wait..?

How about that girl in the Student section that wore a hoodie stating, "Score More Points"? Can we put her on our Crack Staff?

Playing Schobel is not going to help. He will get the crap beaten out of him, we will continue to not score points & our team will still be soft. We need a change in OC & OL coach because it doesn’t matter who plays QB in this scheme with this OL.
schobel is faster than Craig, change up the offense. QuiCJ reads. Qb isos.slants and seams. Play to Schobal’s strengths AND take the pressure of this offensive line that has no shot w the Harvard statue standing back there frozen

Agreed. The failure here is on the offensive-line coaching and Jaden’s processing speed/willingness to take a hit.

Literally anything would be better than what we’ve seen offensively over the last three games against P4 opponents.

You want to keep Craig? Fine. Then use the week off to install a stripped-down option offense with three plays - just not one that requires him to run - and you’d probably have a better offense. It genuinely can’t get much worse!

We’re already the second- or third-worst offense against P4 opponents in all of Division I.

In all honesty, would you want to play behind that line? The most frequently heard word from them is, "Ole!"
Our offensive line has been a disaster every year other than Sonny's first. It won't change and we won't get any better. I'm done listening to a single word he says.

We thought in 2022 that we'd miraculously bucked the trend that the next guy after a legend is almost always terrible. We didn't, he just had a special group of seniors who were ready to stop losing. Moving GP on was still the right thing to do, but our strategy of replacing one god-king head coach with another was foolish. We can't afford to get locked into a long-term bug money contract with a guy who can't deliver on that relationship. TCU needs to give shorter contracts to rising star head coaches and understand that we may have to replace them with another when they leave for the SEC/Big Ten. That's ok. There will always be another rising star to hire, but if you give a GP type contact to a guy who is thoroughly mediocre you might just tank the program for a generation.

That's where we are right now. TCU football is a high budget irrelevance.
