Yeah, after recalibrating my brain after the game, the fault is not with Craig. Was he great? No. He missed wide open guys, never saw some, threw WAY too hard on passes that required touch, and panics way too quickly. But playing the “gunslinger” role is not what we brought him here for. He was supposed to be a game manager leading a balanced, efficient system. But our O-line is so bad that we had to abandon the entire reason we brought both him and Sammis here. After rewatching the game, that is the single worst performance I have seen from a TCU O-line…ever. Weak, slow, confused, and undisciplined.

Blame this guy. Been with Dishrag since Smew. And our o-line has sucked the whole time he's been here:

Amen..........don't do that to Schobel. It would do more harm than good.
I was timing the snap to Craig on most of the passing plays and he only had about 3 seconds to get the ball off on half of the attempts. Why put Schobel into this type of situation against the No 10 team in the nation?

Well, if you are the OC, and you are wanting to get an athletic inexperienced qb into the game, then you setup a game plan with quick hitting plays that don’t necessarily require the young qb to make multiple reads once the ball is snapped. So you don’t put him into the path of an aggressive defense pinning their ears back and bringing the pressure from all angles.

one does not necessarily preclude the other if you properly plan for it.

This is what I was trying to get out of folks. One thing to consider is the change in sense of urgency/psyche of a team (OL) when you throw in such a whippersnapper who has probably taken more blows than the starter. I'll even say Daulton has probably taken more vicious hits than the starter.

Coach Sitake and DC Kelly Poppinga are preparing for a statue in the pocket with little to no escapability. BYU needs to be thrown a couple screwballs.

When your backs are against the wall, a coach and a team have to be ready for the unexpected, but more importantly give the unexpected. The problem with that though is whether the coaches/players KNOW their backs are against a wall.

Just like UCF threw at us last weekend...

So far, our Crack Staff hasn't been able to discern much at all. They have utterly failed to mold our offense into a cohesive unit running their base offense through Spring, Summer, and now 5 weeks of Fall. Changing that base inside a week, considering their earlier inability, is probably not going to happen.

If you remember, 2 years ago, TCU in similar predicament. Then, they started Savion Williams and fed the rock. I think today TCU may be in a worse situation than 2 years ago. The closest to SW is Kari Ashley. I don't think Ashley would be as good as SW with breaking tackles based on his yac.

Amazing isn't it? All this time and pratice and "I didn't see it coming."

No, not getting the living crap beaten out of him is. BYU has a much better defense than UCF, and no one believes our O Line will improve much over the next 90-odd hours. Let the $2.8 million dollar man take that beating.

He needs to start getting snaps soon or he is gone next year too. Craig isn’t the answer. We know Dykes can’t evaluate QB’s. Time to find out asap if we have our QB of the future or we need to go hunting quality QB’s.

Without a pulse this year, our team isn’t improving next year. Sooner or later, the beating is coming.

NO! Sit him on the bench and let people glare at him! If he was paid that much we are all FOOLS!
You are wrong and incorrect. Sitting JC on the bench for the 1st q would enact the tried-and-true practice of SHAME and introspection/ reflection.

There is no doing the 2nd string QB more harm than good. He needs to play. Better in the 1st 2 qs than entering the game 3rd Q. With this staff, at this point, if they allow him to throw less than a dozen passes, they are hurting the program. None of this hand off crap in last 4 games. I DO NOT give flip if Schoebel goes 3/12 and several interceptions.

Oh, the beating is coming in a coupe of days. But the stupid of the Crack Staff's approach to game strategy and player evaluation has to be laid bare, and I expect a good BYU team to do precisely that.

After that, the avenue opens for a new approach. A fresh start.
