Thursday Night the 27th...... 11:20 pm

Sunday Morning the 30th...1:50 am REDEYE

Goes into Phoenix/Mesa. Awesome deal! Watch out for the ADD ons. Do not book until you have read everything concerning baggage, seats...etc.

Do NOT bring a piece of luggage that needs to be checked to the gate before checking it in online. It will cost you $100. I [Craig James] you not.

Carryons cost $45. Checked luggage is $45/piece.

Small personnal items like a backpack are free, as long as it fits under the seat in front of you. No free drinks or food. Even the seat costs money. $10 in the back, $14 in the middle section, $18 in the front. $75 for a big, 1st class sized chair all the way in the front.

Also:
  • Print your boarding pass ahead of time - They charge you to do it at the airport.
  • "Buy" your checked baggage ahead of time as well - Much more expensive to do it at the airport.
  • Weight limit on luggage is 40 lbs, not 50 lbs like on other airlines.
  • Seats don't recline....not a huge deal but something for which to prepare yourself.

You have to ask yourself....do I want to go 550 mph in a metal tube 6 miles above the surface of the earth, with these people?

I flew in on Spirit for the OU game for $59. Brought a personalized small bag and printed my pass at the airport, got charged nothing extra.

Flight home was delayed 2 hours, and it's a little ghetto, but overall not bad.

Good luck, Spirit has lots of add-ons. Know many who will never fly them again. Please give us your opinion after you have made the trip. Maybe they have gotten better.

Every time I see stories about Spirit, I'm reminded of a bit by Ron White...

Thanks & will do! I really don't expect much. Just using as a
quick & cheap method to AZ. No frills expected.

I flew Spirit once. The pilot came on and announced that we were landing in 10 minutes, but that unfortunately we were 20 minutes from the runway.

I flew Spirit to Vegas this past spring and was surprised at how smooth it went. Like most who get upset with the airlines, they don't read what is charged before they buy the ticket. I carried one bag on and it was $20 each way. I also paid an extra $50 each way to sit in the "first class" section. Altogether I saved about $100 over American but I got to sit in a big chair. That said, isn't it funny how you skimp on plane tickets and then drop a grand on the craps table and then scoff at how much the cab ride across the strip is?

I notices the pilots no longer use the term "on the ground" to announce landing times. EVERY flight ends up on the ground! Even the ones in the ocean eventually sink to the bottom! Glad not to hear that anymore.

Anyone ever fly US Air? We booked our group through them, but I haven't ever traveled with them before.

I flew them several times once American Eagle pulled out of Boise. It was okay. Their first class doesn't compare with American's I can tell you that. Coach was about the same. I don't care for the Airbus planes they use. Like most carriers they charge extra for premium coach seats but unlike United there is no extra room. American is doing this now too but they are reconfiguring their cabins.
