South Carolina hiring Donati

Thanks. I was hoping that schedule I found was wrong.
That site does it that way for everyone's conference games. Just to use BC as an example because they were the first team listed in the ACC which was the first conference on the site.

Donati's intro presser in Columbia:

He says a number of nice things about TCU starting at the 11:00 mark. He also closes with appreciation for Chris del Conte.

One interesting response was to a question at 24:00 about whether the change from a large metro area to a smaller "more focused area" with a strong local alumni base offered advantages. He said, "Maybe. We'll see," before talking about the benefit of strong local alumni support. You could see in his eyes a flash of things not said: "Do you think it'll be easier to convince coaching candidates to bring their families to a provincial town without world-class culture and amenities? Do you think it will be easier for coaches to recruit here instead of a major metro area? Do you think it will be easier to negotiate NIL deals in a small town with limited corporate presence? To set up schedules in a hard-to-get-to-place vs. a city with great transportation links, where every opponent wants to travel? Maybe. We'll see."

It's a fine school and a good job, with a large alumni base and local support, but that was kind of an odd question.

Why we always seem to play our body bag game 2nd? Conventional wisdom sas you make your most improvement from week 1 to week 2, only to waste that on ACU. Also not a fan of playing a team w a pulse on the road for game 1.

UNC doesn't even have a coach right now. I would say pulse will be debatable for them. I guess Dykes prefers to play these teams the second week because we started as soon as he got here and have done it that way all three years.

Was I supposed to type something here?

I don't think Dykes had a thing to do with that schedule. These things are made up five or more years in advance in most cases.

A testament to Gary Patterson and why he has a statue. Chris Del Conte jumped on the gravy train.

gotta give Donati credit for womens basketball though. We were a laughingstock, not even worth being in the big12. Went from that #9 seed right now. With 2/3rds of our team injured last year with walk-ons we had a better team than we did with Pebley.
ADJD did a good job for TCU. I will never believe that he fired GP even if he wanted to. He was following orders imho.

IMO if he didn't fire Patterson he would not have been doing his job.

He had lost the team, it was a total mess, and we needed to move on asap so as not to be totally screwed for 2022. It worked out pretty well I think.

Train. Wreck.
UNC sure does seem to like the old guys. Why in the heck would a college program hire a 72-year old. That's about the lowest-floor, lowest-ceiling scenario you could dream up. Best case he'll do maybe better than some people think and be done in 2-3 years. Worst case it will be a total disaster.
