Sooner Fans Profile

Has anyone noticed that Sooner fans seem to be a bit of a nervous bunch? All the ones I know talk a big game but when the actual game comes around seem to be a nervous wreck about the outcome. Not at all like the ridiculous entitlement of UT or the misguided arrogance of TT (before their annual 6 game losing streak.) It'll be interesting to see how their fans are at AGC.

Paint a picture of two fan bases.

TT- loud, arrogant, entitled, full of [Craig James], cocky, 0 conference titles, 0 national championships

OU- loud, realistic, knowledgable, cordial, 43 conference titles, 7 national championships

I think those achievements and lack of make them what they are. Tech screams little guy syndrome.

The nerves come from being the victim of so many upsets. There's always one loss that shouldn't happen for OU.

Big game Bob has gotten his but kicked in Big games. Then again he has won big games as well. OU is a quality team and for the most part has classy fans that are respectful. Over the years I have been impressed with the sportsmanship of OU as well as the sportsmanship of their fans. I respect OU the most out of conference mates due to to how they handle themselves. Expect them to give us hell and I know they expect to receive the same. I have felt the most respect from OU since joining the Big 12 and wish their program nothing but the best. Except for this saturday were I hope we win.

They should be, lots on the line. Hell i'm nervous. Not because I am scared for tcu to lose, but I want to win this game so damn bad and their offense is on fire right now.

Agree with all of this. In general, Sooners act like they've been there before because they have.

Both times I've been to Oklahoma for a game, I have been treated well. They are loud and spirited, but good hosts. I hope we can do the same.

I don't know but I'm getting sick and tired of getting beat at home and having to hear about it from opposing fans in our own stadium.

All time record between the 2 teams says OU up 7-4. Could easily be 6-5 for TCU, if you take into consideration the robbery in '98 and the td taken away in '54.

Those losses in '98 and '54 more likely due to patty-cake blocking O-lines.
Uh, no. Though I can't speak for the '54 game but there was nothing patty cake about 1950s TCU football. '98 we was robbed by the refs then failed to just go to the ground on game-winning oskie.

Yeah, OU fans are realistic fans for the most part. All the UT fans in the office were ready to take me up on the polo bet last week, but the 2 OU fans wouldn't take the bet (we bet lunch instead)

Growing up the son of an OU alum and a huge Sooner fan (but TCU Letterman and season ticket holder), I can attest to the "been there" attitude of the majority of the OU fan base. They appreciate good teams and recognize well-coached, hard-playing teams that leave it all on the field. They respect programs that have earned their place in the national discussons, since they have certainly earned theirs through decades of winning. The "uncertainty" of winning Saturday comes from the respect they have for The Frog defense and the Jekyll-Hyde nature of their own defense. I root hard for the Sooners every week, but I will be wearing my Purple tomorrow!!!

Go Frogs!
