When I was a kid in the '60s, a couple of my parents' friends would still clinch jaws and get red-faced over the cockroach game. UTx fans of the time took it hard. A few of them anyway.

There were many Sonny Gibbs stories going around when I was a student. One I can tell has him often heading to Worth Hills with his golf clubs while all other students were heading to class.

My dad used to take me to tcu practices once in a blue moon. I remember Sonny Gibbs being there watching one day and my dad knowing who he was and introducing me to him. I just remember him being very friendly and VERY tall.

Here are extended highlights of that game. Frogs twice stopped the Horns inside the 5 in the first quarter (once on downs, once on a blocked FG). They replaced Gibbs for a series late in the 1st quarter. The scoring drive came on the Frogs' next offensive series. Go to 15:33 to see the scoring play.

What a crazy season that was. Frogs went 3-5-2 but beat #1 Texas and tied #3 Ohio State--both on the road--and also beat #8 Kansas.
