Of course they have to give some type of reason for why they're holding him back. So putting out some rumblings about it being all TCU's fault is the way to go.

He'll end up being eligible because I can't remember the NCAA not allowing someone to be immediately eligible in the last 2 years. It may not get decided until mid-September after he's already stepped on a couple sprinklers but he will be eligible.

He’ll get his release. The bigger issue is the league who has yet to amend its own policy on inner conference transfers

Some comments from Patterson today:

General

“Up front it’s easy because we have a lot of our front guys. We have all of our ends and four out of our eight defensive tackles so we’ve been able to see ourselves progress there. The linebackers have gotten better which will add depth in the fall.”

On offense (uh oh he sounds positive)

"The offense has really progressed; the offensive line, the tight ends, wide receivers and running backs; the whole group has gotten better since the beginning of spring. “all this we’re getting now? You can’t even measure this. The timing with the wide receivers, all of the work it’s coming together.”

On Duggan

"He’s fantastic. He’s been unbelievable. He is the leader over there."

“I thought he threw the deep ball well in fall. The older he gets, the more he’s going to do it. Depends on the day like any QB: you only get evaluated by the success rates of it. Saturdays will be when you know it the most, as I have always said.”

On Morris:

"He's out there but right now the ball is in Oklahoma’s court,”

C Steve Avila:

“I think Steve Avila is going to be one of the best centers in the country, if not the best. He’s a really good player. He’s 330-pounds and can really move side to side. I’ve been very impressed with him. The whole offensive line is vastly improved. Every day we get better; all of our number two’s are redshirt freshmen.”

RBs

“The running backs are very talented.”

WR

“D Davis has been out [the last few practices], but he’s having the best — as far as catching the ball and running — he’s been the best I’ve ever seen him. Very explosive, hard to handle. All three of those guys are big time plusses as we go forward.”

On Marcel Brooks “He’s been good, but still a lot to learn. They’ve been challenging him, but there’s been a lot of positives. Lots of really good plays — he’s very athletic.”

TEs

Rogers: “He’s still in the learning stage but you can tell he’s talented. Like all young players, everyone is learning how to be more physical; all of that is part of the progression for us at tight end. But he shows the ability to do it all.”

Jasper Lott: “We weren’t sure if he was going to be a tight end or a tackle, but he’s going to stay at tight end. He’s got a lot of things going for him — great size, high ceiling.”

Defense:

CBs

“Our starting corners in the last scrimmage was Derek Reynolds and Dominique Collins. Does anyone know those names? Tre has been out and Ceasar, we think are going to get him back in a little bit. It’s one of our ‘it is what it is’. You’ll be surprised in the fall.”

DEs

“The guy that’s had the best spring is Dylan Horton. He’s pushed those guys, it’s like having three starters. And, now that his knee is stronger Colt Ellison is a lot better, a long stronger. Offensively, it’s given us a lot of looks. We will be better prepared for the season than ever because of all the different looks they can give us in the running game, too.”
