Week 3 for us. First week of 1 week of preparation.

SMU is doing a great job. Starting coming on end of last year. Running well and throwing deep. Work hard on D. Dykes has done a great job.

Buechele? he's given them consistency. checks to things. played in big ball games.

TCU QB? same as last week. see how it goes.

Transfer portal - 20 something guys that have transferred in. (smu)

secondary? worked hard on off week after PB. they do a lot of gadget plays. back to what he did at Cal.

Adv to Sonny coaching here? How we do things, kicking game, all those things. They have 4/5 guys that have been in our walls. Still have to play the game.

David Bolsomi - made himself quicker with his size. Got to get guys to rotate with the 2:30 game. Mass does help inside.

We had to play 7-8 personnel groups last week. very difficult to prepare for.

SMU - they don't do a whole lot but they do it well.

Max on Sat? he's a freshmen. at some point, we are going to have to throw to beat people. get the game to slow down and throw like he does in practice. when they get it, they need to catch it.

Experience? trying to do it too quickly. He has a very high level. We have several young QBs that we think will be successful.

Reagor slow start? He played 76 snaps, blocked well. Close on long one, We need to keep finding ways to get him ball.

taye and mikel and julius - game time decision, will practice.

negative you know each other well (playing smu) positive less travel.

3 hours get after each other. Friends with Sonny otherwise.

Sonny as analyst - validated things for us. everyone uses them differently.

Top 25 vote was you? could have been.

We didn't make coaches poll. Didn't notice the AP.

Special teams? covered kicks as good as forever. also punting and kicking. Heights has helped that. anytime you tackle rondale inside 10 you are fast.

Grade yourself? Plenty of thursdays where I would fire myself.

We have good players but not overly deep. We play better when we have a chip on our shoulder. Earn the chip.

Skillet/rivalry? Mean more if in same conference. but a big deal for alumni. golf tourneys.

where is Skillet? we put it where it can be seen. I don't use it. No time to cook.

Gladney - we put him in a lot of one on ones. he will be recognized for that. facing good players down the line.

Same as last week? I’ll be shocked in Delton goes out first

I won't; it's SMU. If he's good enough to play for TCU he should be good enough to play against SMU. At this point the fact that he's the QB with most questions is precisely why I'd expect to see him start--give him some more tune-up time, which he needs. If not vs. SMU then when?

as staff, not good for APB, better last week. we have a lot of young players, not pleased with sideline organization in the APB game.

On track where team needs to be for conference? historically when we lose the stretch game, they don't turn out as well. when we win it, it turns out well.

Reagor as intense in practice - learned to be that way. have to love process to be a great player. hard to change the gear on saturdays, game is so fast.

Energy? Senior group and chemistry is different than a year ago. need to stay healthy.

Ben back in 2-3 weeks. we can get 6-7 guys back that will make a difference.

We have 4-8 players that have a chance to be draftpicks. need to stay healthy. every conference game is going to be a war.

State of league different than 2014? hard to tell. More depth in Big 12 now. We have to keep getting better. We need to have 60-65 guys that can play a high level in this league.

First afternoon kick? ideal start time? 11 is harder. in texas you like to play at 6 to get away from heat.

no thoughts on Cal case about paying players.

Streaming game only? no thoughts.

Not too drink too much kool aid, but holding guys like barkley, barber, lewis, etc. out the first 3 or 4 games may pay some dividends later on in the season with less wear and tear.

Granted it could have cost us against a healthy Purdue, but this season may be setting up real nice for a run late in the year.

Just imagine if the game slows down for Max, the WRs pull their head out, and those true freshmen (winters, stewart, etc.) gain some experience. Real salty!
