Here's a random suggestion that would never work because it's too good:

Play the non-CFP bowl games in April in lieu of spring games as a reward for programs that earned a spot by going .500 or better. Game is a pure exhibition, counting neither to the previous or ensuing year's record.

They would be drowned by baseball season. IMHO, and I'm really NOT a fan of pro baseball.

I think people would have a really hard time getting excited for a one-off, meaningless game about the furthest from football season as you can get.

I'd much prefer they just add another week to the season and do away with Bowls. There really is no reason for two bye weeks in a 12-game season. Bowls have outlived their usefulness. If the players can't decide whether they want to play or not, the games probably should not be played.

I don't know. I think a chance to see what your team might look like in the fall coming out of spring ball when you haven't seen a game in four months could have more appeal than the First Responders Bowl.

Hard to say on the weather this year. Maybe it will hold off this and hit hard in Jan. We (wife) and I go to SF often, so far like last year, snow has been sparse but the mntns are covered. Go chec
k it out and drive north a short distance to SF
