The Kansas City Chiefs are being predicted to land one of the most compelling wide receivers of the NFL Draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs need to get Patrick Mahomes some obvious help this offseason. Whether it's addressing their shaky offensive line or their thin set of weapons, the Chiefs must make some moves.

Unfortunately, Kansas City will not exactly have a ton of money to spend in free agency, and even if the Chiefs restructure some contracts, the pickings may be slim.

Ergo, Kansas City may have to depend largely on the NFL Draft to patch some holes, and Pro Football Network is predicting the Chiefs to land arguably the most compelling wide receiver in this upcoming class: TCU Horned Frogs star Savion Williams.

Pro Football Network has Kansas City selecting Williams in the third round.

"Savion Williams didn’t have the ideal opportunity to showcase his full potential in TCU’s 2024 offense. His rare blend of size and athleticism makes him one of the most intriguing prospects in this class," PFN wrote. "Williams would bring something different to the table for this offense alongside the playmaking abilities of [Rashee] Rice and [Xavier] Worthy, making for a fascinating trio in 11 personnel."

Savion Williams did not have the opportunity to showcase his full talents at TCU!. Offer suggestions as to why we did not provide those opportunities. What was lacking? Teaching improved route running, play calling, and time to execute offense with average offense line protection. QB play, what?

Then, if necessary, how to improve? If it was coaching, then we need to heat up the seat he sits on to improve his performance. A talent like Savion doesn't walk on a field every day!

A critical question.

Sure, KC could use some weapons, but they are also in dire need of an OL upgrade. I'd think they would take lineman with at least 2 of their better picks, but what do I know.

Savion was used more as a possession receiver here, and while Max seemed to have confidence in him (go back and watch how he performs when QJ is hurt/resting), I'm not sure he developed the chemistry with Hoover.

PFN actually wrote that he didn't have the ideal opportunity to showcase his full talents, but they also didn't explain what they meant by that (emphasis added).

We also don't know if the person credited with writing this (Ben Rolfe, who is from the UK and follows the NFL; unsure of how much CFB he watches) or other unnamed contributors have credentials to make that type of claim about so many athletes (he did a 7 round mock draft) or if he was referring to the fact that Savion ran the ball often, etc.

I wouldn't worry about fixing anything until you know that there's a problem. Maybe the point is that we had so many other talented receivers it wasn't ideal for him to showcase his abilities?

So whatever happened to Rice and his running from the injury accident he caused on I75? While DUI most likely and with weapons if I recall correctly.

The coaches maximized his talent in a way that gave the team the best chance to win! The offensive line was terrible at run blocking so they used him in the wildcat the second half of the season. I have a feeling Savion will do well at the NFL combine and have a surprisingly good NFL future.

As another poster mentioned a few days ago, I wonder in hindsight whether the O-line was really so terrible at run blocking, or did they just look that way mostly because of Captain Sideways?

Pure speculation here.... I think there is some kind of disconnect or inability to synchronize between Briles Jr. and Malcolm Kelly. Not acrimony, just at times the two along with the co-offensive coordinator abilities to strategize, collaborate and goal set.

Think about it. Think about some of the catches Savion made in '22,'22 vs '23 & '24. Different QBs sure. but some of the catches 2-3 years ago seemed different.

Savion was a beast from day one. Made ridiculous catches as a frosh. Now, maybe some of that was due to the attention defenses had to give to the other WRs, but it was clear he had amazing skills. The only issue I EVER saw with him was, early on, he could seem disengaged- but that went away as time went on. He's going to be really scrong in NFL, and I really really hope he goes to KC. He can be a star there.

Just imagine if they had figured out shortcomings in running game before season. Not sure how that player selection ever happened.

Those 2 go hand in hand. A decisive, downhill runner makes an OL look great, while weak push, holes, cause an already indecisive runner to dance more.
