+1. Though I've learned that Scott seems to like open criticism of their profanity policy as little or less than he likes the profanity itself. But that is why he and Wes make no bones about the fact that this is THEIR website...you cross the line, you face the consequences. I'm not a fan of questioning the line being over the line, but basically when you're operating within someone's property (like this website) it's up to you to learn that whatever their definition of rude is is how you generally need to operate.
That being said, the pointed attacks in almost every thread are just getting tired. I'm probably one of the biggest anti-censorship guys on here generally, but even I understand why something needs to be done. SO many threads devolve into personal attacks...for me, it doesn't matter whether or not they contain certain words that society has arbitrarily decided are "bad" or not...clean or "dirty" the personal attacks take away from the enjoyment of reading and perhaps participating in the thread.
I, for one, am tired of how many things become about GDU, and the attacks that go along with it. Many times he enters on his own, and many times he is baited into a thread...
[and you just can't help yourself, which - seriously bro, is a flaw...you are not in court and do not have to respond to every snippy little thing -- show a little confidence in yourself by ignoring the really stupid stuff and magically it'll dry up...if that's indeed what you want]
...and after he's baited into the thread he gets pounced on with personal attacks and then the inevitable line-item rebuttals and then the thread is completely useless for anyone who doesn't have fun going back and forth with GDU all freakin day.
This act is getting tired, and it's but one example of people calling each other idiots and retards and junk. I've certainly been in my scuffles on here and I'm not without blame for a sometimes-corrosive tone, but I've been trying hard to keep all posts high-content sports posts, and I'm glad something is being done. Hope it works...the offseason is hard enough. I need KF.c to be where I can get Frog talk that doesn't degenerate into web-based WWE.
It's common sense. There are vulgarities & profane words that everyone knows that "crosses the line".
Words that you would not say around the President of your company, The Pastor of your church, The Dean of your school & hopefully your parents/grandparents. Nothing IRKS me more than some loudmouth spewing profane & vulgar words at events that involve kids. We have all of the above on here.
It is also one of those..."If you give an inch....some take it a mile". That is why we must set a standard here. The thing that is bothersome.....the offenders are usually the ones that understand the standard....but try to "push" or just plain disregard it.
There is decency, still, in some sectors of our society. You can blame me for your "censorship" here, but this standard was in place long before I was an owner. It is my intent to keep it intact here at KillerFrogs.com
