SEC Dominance or Alabama/Saban Dominance?

Ok...

So, we always hear about how the SEC is just this dominant force, and that it is more difficult to come out of the SEC than to win a NC.

BUT...are we now to the point where we can say that it is really just Bama/Saban dominance ... not SEC dominance?

Yes. And if the SEC were a round robin format (meaning the top 5-6 teams played each other every year) the "SEC dominance" wouldn't appear to be as such.

Just look at the rest of bowl game results and see if they dominated every game.

Yes, those programs at the top; Alabama, LSU, Florida, etc. are there for a reason, but I think from top down they are not as dominant as everyone thinks.

Bama/Saban dominance... they were playing the mythical #1 team in the nation last night and made it look like men were playing boys... I've never seen a more dominant CFB team, ever (granted, I'm only 24 years old)

Darn baylor!
I think Saban has no respect for Kelly and wanted to prove a point. He looked pissed early and kept stepping on the throat.

Personally i would love a TCU vs Bama NC in the near future. To be the best, beat the best. Tons of respect for Saban.

I don't think so. I think the fair assesment is that the best team in the SEC has been the best team in the country. Looks like that will be true until it's not.

How many times in recent history has that team been coached by Saban?

Bama/Saban dominance

I'd drop Bama from that equation and just say Saban.

Fran, Stallings and the other guys who's name I don't recall had some pretty good teams at Bama but nothing like what they have with Saban.

I like Alabama. I believe they will have very good teams in most years regardless of who coaches them. But now, Bama's opponents want to hide the women and children when Saban brings his team into town.

SEC looked awful this bowl season, outside of Alabama of course. The "number 3 team in the nation" got absolutely manhandled by the Big East champions.

How many recent national championships have been won by Kentucky? Tennessee? Vanderbilt? Arkansas? The Mississippi schools?

Some time when I have nothing else to do I'd like to research the interconference games for the last 4-5 years between the bottom half of the SEC and the bottom halves of the Big 12, Big 10 and Pac 12. My guess is the SEC isn't too dominant at that level.

Are we talking about National Championship dominance or total conference dominance?

If we're talking NC, I'd say it's SEC with a large helping of Bama/Saban. Alabama has won 3 of the 7 championships but you also have Florida with two and LSU and Auburn each with one.

For total conference, I'd say it's very top heavy. You have consistent strength at the top with Bama, LSU, and recently Georgia and South Carolina. You have potential in Texas A&M.

Other than that, you've got an overrated Florida, a middle of the road Vandy and Miss St, and the rest is basically a dumpster fire in Ole Miss, Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Auburn and Tennessee.

That's a pretty damn strong top of the conference. I doubt KState beats any of those guys this year, and KState was #1 in the Big 12. Maybe LSU and SCarolina, but doubtful.
