SDSU makes it official--staying with MWC

Conferences are built on the membership institutions having some sort of commonality. The reality is that SDSU, BSU, and TCU for that matter have nothing in common with a bunch of institutions on the East Coast that do not play football. This league was unmanageable mess that became CUSA on steroids. The Big East might still be a viable football conference today had the football schools left the non football schools before the ACC did its first raid on the Big East.

The new Big East has become old CUSA, which has become the old Sun Belt, which has become the new place for schools to go D1A.

Meanwhile, the new MWC has become the old WAC, which has become deceased.

Good for them. Glad both them and Boise decided to stay pat.

While I am definitely happy with TCU's situation at present, and I'm sure Utah is happy being in the Pac 12 and you couldn't blame them for taking that opportunity, but looking back now it's fun and interesting to think how good this conference could have been if Utah and BYU stayed. Granted nobody could've predicted the nutiness of conference shifting not too long ago (and far after Utah decided to leave), but if they stay and assuming some combination of the new current schools come on board, it would've been a helluva conference.

Nevertheless, it's still a respectable conference given the current institutions today. Turning into a pretty good basketball conference.

What are you talking about? We share more in common with the C7 than we do most everybody in the B12. Small, private, religious schools in an urban setting... Sounds more like TCU than large publicly welfare funded state degree factories.

Anyways, the C7 were already gone from the BE before SDSU and Boyzee left.

This is one of the dumbest posts I have read in a while. Those C7 schools either don't play football at all or play below FBS. We have way more in common with the B12 schools. Our basketball interest or skill level has no commonality with those schools at all.

Actually, you're both right. As a SCHOOL, we're more like the C7, As an ATHLETIC PROGRAM, we're more like the B12. Trying to be both is something that long-term will be the biggest struggle to balance for the administration.
