Man, @TCU athletic dept... Be better... Across the board! Take the narrative and either fess up that you screwed up, got caught with your pants down, weren't reading the bowl room correctly, or that the Big 12 just gave you a big slice of humble pie regarding what they really think.

Hire a better AD. Get back to demanding excellence. Get the NIL and big donors re-engaged. Then, fire up the team and kick the crap out of the Cajuns to get 2025 started correctly.

As predicted … Donati defenders.
If you mean, defend him from accusations not made public or sourced, I'll be your huckleberry.

If Jeremy is accusing Donati of turning down a bid, why is he so cowardly as to do it from behind a paid message board? Afraid of getting sued?

Jeremy has a public X account; he should post a story there.

This is exhibit A of [ muschi ] journalism.

I have defended Donati in the past, over the Dixon/UCLA kerfluffle and the Schloss checking out matter. I felt that in both cases he handled things as they needed to be handled. My opinion was based on the things I was told, and surmised from what I was told, and little more.

In the present case, I honestly don't know what to think because there are some odd, unexplainable things which have happened, and the main player is skipping town. While I stand second to no one in my contempt of ESPN, I hardly think they fingered us "send them to New Mexico! (evil laughter...)" for some deliberate slight. The scenario could be either 1.) Refusing a Bowl bid directly, or 2.) Playing coy and not giving an answer, until the Bowl said, "Fine. We'll invite these guys instead!" The second scenario works, given the story we've been hinted, as does the defense of "We never turned anybody down!" Both of these could be true.

But, whatever. It is done, and the guilty party is now looking for a decent tailor, and a nice fern bar in Columbia S.C. He is no longer our concern. Hopefully we learned some lessons from his tenure.

For what it's worth, TCU's TV ratings were significantly worse this year, as compared to 2023. In actuality, they were cut in half, and that may have played a part in getting the Frogs relegated to such a 3rd World bowl. Last year, TCU's average TV audience was slightly more than 1.4 million, which was 28th in the country and # 3 among current Big-12 members, behind only Colorado and Utah! This year, they were 48th (still ahead of Tech )!

We were no longer a novelty, just another bad football team.

Traditionally bowls have the option to select teams with an equal number of wins, or even a team with one fewer win. It isn't a straight selection order; if it was, there wouldn't be the annual game of predicting who is going where.

This is why UT and OU (and schools like them) have historically received better bowls. It's entirely possible that Tech travels better than us to lesser bowl games (vs. NY6 etc.).

Tech probably has five times the living alumni so of course they will travel better. I can remember a 6-6 OU getting a better game than an 8-4 KSU many years ago. Bowls pay more attention to fanbase size and branding than they do the quality of the teams. Is it fair? No, but it happens every year.

The only conference it doesn't happen in is the SEC because they wait until the bowls are announced to place their teams in the most favorable matchups (it doesn't work that well because they get their butts kicked regularly, but they still try).

Exactly. There is a difference between defending Donati and believing a ridiculous story that no one has the stones to publicly be the source of.

We need another CDC. Not sure we would be playing in NM if he were still here. A hell of a politician.

CDC is without a doubt the best athlete director in modern TCU history. Another athletic director that was also great at doing stuff behind the scenes was Eric Hyman. He was great in dealing with bowls! He was important along with Coach Fran in revitalizing TCU football by lobbying for TCU to get an at large spot in the Sun Bowl after the Big 10 did not cover its allotment. Hyman was also behind TCU playing in the first year Fort Worth Bowl instead of the GMAC Bowl which was set up as a punishment by CUSA and ESPN for leaving CUSA for the MWC which did not have a TV contract with them.

Play games on ESPN+ and get those types of viewers. Casual fan of that sport isn’t watching the game. The problem with the bowl games is one network controls them. The CFB programming has gotten unwatchable. Pat McAfee is beyond annoying and terrible. How in the world did Matt Barrie get on CFB coverage? He was horrendous at NBC5.

ESPN and the SECond best conference gambled on each other and the losses are starting to look like they could be huge. How are SEC going to weaken their schedules like Bama wants?! They are already terrible outside of the SEC.
