2026 TCU Football Season Preview: Quarterbacks

For the first time in about three years, the TCU Horned Frogs will have a new signal caller under center.
Josh Hoover has moved on. Now a redshirt senior, Hoover has transferred to Indiana and will be the next starter for the defending national champion Hoosiers. A starter at TCU for most of the 2023 season and all of the last two years, Hoover will succeed Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza. Hoover played in 35 games at TCU, throwing for 9,629 yards and 71 touchdowns with 33 interceptions and a 65% rate of completions. While his passing numbers rank among the top quarterbacks in TCU history, his turnovers, which included 14 fumbles and nine fumbles lost, were a factor in the team’s back-to-back eight-win regular seasons.
