2025 four-star quarterback Adam Schobel commits to TCU

By Russell Hodges

Another member of the Schobel family will be wearing the purple and white when TCU takes the field for the 2025 season. The Horned Frogs have flipped four-star quarterback Adam Schobel, who’s the son of former TCU tight end Matt Schobel and the nephew of former TCU defensive lineman Aaron Schobel. Both Matt and Aaron enjoyed long NFL careers, with Matt playing for the Cincinnati Bengals and Philadelphia Eagles between 2002 and 2008 while Aaron played for the Buffalo Bills from 2001-09. Adam is also the cousin of three-star EDGE recruit John Schobel, who has already pledged for the Horned Frogs.

The next time you’re in or near Columbus, Texas, exit I-10 and drop into the Schobel Family restaurant for the lunch buffet - and bring your appetite!

They’ve built an eye-popping tribute to Aaron, Bo and Matt’s playing days at TCU, and the food will leave you wanting to take a very, very long nap.

Well worth the time to visit!

Go Frogs!

Was I supposed to type something here?
Wow, what a monstrous loss for OSU. Bowman’s eligibility runs out in ‘24, and now they lose their only 4-Star QB commit since 2021.
Great size, great arm, and can run a little too. Really nice pick up for the Frogs!

There is so many great things about the food, but their PIES/Cake. Ooooooo…I miss living in San Antonio as it was only a 2 hr drive. I’d head out on a Saturday, eat lunch, drive back, stop at Bucees, then head up to City Market BBQ in Luling and grab some bbq.
Do you have a deal with Buccee's? You give them some gas, they give you some gas?

So, you make a two hour drive to Columbus, have a full meal plus some pie/cake? Then drive back, stop at Buccee's, probably for gas and a snack (maybe a BBQ sandwich?)? Then arrive back and immediately head to Luling for BBQ? That is a lot of food. No wonder you have decimated some plumbing...

Well, it’s more to offload some packages, then I fill up again in Luling. I would that that like 2x a year when I lived in San Antonio.

I also had a foodcation to Lum’s out in Junction City. They have good bbq, a great spicy spaghetti, and the best triple chocolate cream pie known to man. Plus they have an old 80s Southwest Conference decor.

"Foodcation." I like that. Any recommendations for the El Paso/Mesilla/Las Cruces metroplex?

Kid you not, there is a city West of El Paso named Pie Town, and there is a spot called Pie-O-Neer Homestead. Great pies and the grilled cheese with the soup is excellent. If you love cinnamon rolls this is your spot. They are closed Tue, Wed.

In El Paso, Chope’s Bar and Cafe and their Gordita plate, red enchiladas and chile colorado. This is a stop I haven’t made in 10 years, but memorable.

I used to stop at that Chuy’s in Van Horn on account of that is where John Madden would stop at on his Madden Bus during football season. It’s permanently closed now. :(
