Booze, glitter lotion, and sun exposure at TCU Noon or 2:30 games have created a haze of my timeline. I don't even know when I joined up. I am best known for pooping, eating, and being willing to do the hibbity jibbity with the Baylor Beer Thief.

Wes tried to take whatever befell him with a good attitude. He underwent painful sleep apnea surgery and was forever trying to lose weight. I am not brave enough to ride a bike around SW FW, but he did it. Don't know how he lost the weight, but kudos. Then he caught brain cancer! Still a great attitude!
I had stopped going much into the TCU area about 10 years ago due to age and health issues, but losing a young son must have been devastating. I would liked to give my condolences in person.
But somehow I am still here, being told "3-5 years" a couple years ago by my liver specialist.
I hope to hang on until TCU finally wins the NC. I can always hope.

The chat room made the old forum great. I think changing the name to the Bob Room was mainly to yank Old Rips chain.
I remember Wes trying to teach WAC Commissioner Karl Benson how to use the chat room, unsuccessfully. I knew then the WAC was in trouble. Benson couldn't figure out how to use it and it was a mind,-boggling easy thing to do. A big difference between Benson and Billy Tubbs, who was there at the bar to meet the guys. Tubbs was sharp as a tack. Too bad Hyman didn't like him.

Hang in there. Wes did have a pretty good attitude regarding his brain tumor. But he never got over Cameron's death. His persona was about the same but I can tell you he never was the same. I will always believe that Killer Frogs offered him a great refuge from the grief though.

I'm sorry to hear about your battle.
My urologist told me there is a 99% chance I have prostate cancer, with a biopsy coming next week. He wants to see how aggressive the cancer is. However, he did say it should be treatable with radiation. This has been a long week after getting this news, but I am optimistic he is correct about the treatment.

Heh. A semi-related anecdote...
At a pre-game tailgate last year, a friend of similar age (60-ish) arrived late but well-met. Seems that he had been traveling in Europe and began to have stomach pains. Flew home and saw his Doc, who immediately sent him to surgery and took out his appendix!
"Don't you normally have that yanked out a little earlier than this?"
"Well, I wasn't in charge of scheduling. It was."
With a few mimosas in us, the joking began about who still had what organs, teeth, appendages, etc. We played something like Old Parts Bingo: "Who still has Wisdom Teeth?"
A few hands went up...
"Drink."
"Appendix?"
Hands.
"Drink."
This went on, to hoots and laughs. It was a fine morning...

For a long time I have heard it said that if you live long enough you will have prostate cancer. My dad had it and the treatments worked. What really made him suffer was his second case of shingles on his face! He was in his 90's the second time (he lived to 98). So hang on there! I don't expect to live as long my Dad, or his mother (107) but to enjoy what's left. The pain I experienced recently with chemo embolisation and a inguinal hernia have outweighed anything my cirrhosis has delt out. But I feel like I may be past that and ready to enjoy my life again.

I have heard similar statements. This is what I found with a cursory search:
Prostate cancer is extremely common and frequently goes undiagnosed. Autopsy studies of men who died from other causes show the cancer is present in roughly 5% of men under age 30, increasing to 15-40% in their 50s and 60s, and exceeding 50% in men over age 90.
Does not minimize the impact of having it and the treatment that goes along with it, but it is extremely common and, most commonly, slow growing.
I had my own scare last year and underwent biopsies. So far so good but definitely something I’m watching closely.
