Something about a cap, and maybe living out of a shopping cart? I can’t remember for sure.Did I have it wrong? I can't remember what Leonard Smalls schtick was.

Earl from Mesquite was definitely the guy that sold grinderings.
Remember Baylor Dan? He rankled a lot of people. But it wasn’t Wes. He told me once, and he may still be around, but I’m not sure.
Kinda still around and a former player. Good guy and one to call if you get into trouble. Well maybe not.Something about a cap, and maybe living out of a shopping cart? I can’t remember for sure.

He got me big time one night until it finally dawned on me. One of the best at it.Yeah, I actually met Baylor Dan back in the day. Can't even remember who his regular handle was. We had a good laugh over how easy it was to get people riled up. I still often post inflammatory things just to live up to my handle.

I forgot to mention that the night of the book signing was a Friday night during high school football season. Dan had said he told them that another night might be better but they decided to schedule that night anyway. Thus why there was likely a small crowd. But that was for sure good for me!Mrs. Frog Preacher and I lived in the Jacksonville, Florida area for a couple of years as I served a church there. Dan Jenkins had a home there at the time and had just written a new book. He was doing a book signing at a Barnes & Noble in town and I went to buy the book and get him to sign in. I expected a big crowd but there wasn't one. I got him to sign my book and because hardly anyone else I was able to talk to him for a while, particularly after he found out I was from Texas and was a TCU alumni. He said that he liked Jacksonville and that it reminded him of Fort Worth except with a beach.
You should definitely post more. I recall much of what you have discussed but never heard the private details. Post more and more often!Feisty! and you rang....
I joined in the mid-90s and it was when the recruiting boards were just taking off and social media was yet to explode. The two main recruiting boards at the time were Rivals and the one owned by UT guy Jason Suchomel, Insiders?
Jason had just tried to buy Killerfrogs and when Wes turned him down flat so Jason created a TCU site on his board and told Wes he was going to bury him. Now 30 years later and still strong!
Hope you don’t mind me going down memory lane here. If you do just stop reading…
Gunner was the primary guy for recruiting information at the time on KFc and we chatted a bunch and got to be friends, miss that guy. I started organizing the recruiting info and Wes asked me to expand things. He had friends in the AD offices, I had a few HS coaches’ connections, Dave Smoak helped with East Texas information and a few of the KFc admins who were still in school had connections with players. They fed me a lot of information, and we increased membership rapidly. We also had a lot of fun, and my role was to increase interactions, some methods didn’t go over too well, but a lot did.
One person that was attracted to the board from all this was Dan Jenkins. At the time Dan and Gary Patterson were neighbors and he would feed us some of the goings on. Gary swore we had someone on the inside at one time and was dead set on shutting it down. I did a “find the mole” skit on the board, I ended it with Gary being the mole.
One of the bigger stories Dan put us on was the Arkansas debacle. He first told us when Gary was having dinner with the Arkansas AD in Fort Worth. Then he let us know whenever they showed up at his house and finally told us a deal was done. Wes was able to verify with his connections in the AD office and was told Gary told the coaches to “pack up, we are heading to Arkansas.” What saved it was Jerry Jones asked to let him try one more time with Bobby Petrino, who then was with the Falcons and their first choice. Jerry pulled it off at the last minute before any contracts were signed. Not many believed what we were saying but it was all truth.
Another short Dan story: he posted as Purple Geezer and after another bad showing by some refs at a TCU game he posted on the board his feelings and ended it with “I hope they all die of cancer.” Obviously, Zebra took justifiable exception. I asked Zebra if he knew who Purple Geezer was and said he didn’t. Not sure Dan posted again after that, think he didn’t quite understand the concept. Anyway, Wes was kind enough to buy his TCU book for me and have him sign it. RIP Dan.
The battle of the recruiting boards accelerated after that, and because we were persona non grata for our failure to always show the bright side the other boards gained an advantage (damn suck ups). Anyway, one story we hit them on was on a highly ranked OL recruit from Dallas Skyline who was committed to TCU. He started taking visits to Arizona and word came from the Skyline coaches he was having second thoughts. I posted such and said he was seriously considering Arizona though TCU was still on top. One of the guys on the other board came at us/me hard saying he was close friends with the family, blah, blah blah and I was full of it. A lot of posters joined in including Mr TCU. The next day he decommitted and not a word was said. Good news, bad news was he eventually signed with TCU and did nothing. That is recruiting 101.
So many other great memories. White Sox!!!! (I got banned by Deep for re-arranging the order of posts).
When Scott was in the process of purchasing his share, I received a call from LMac44 (Wes gave him my number) and there were ownership issues to resolve. We chatted and finally set up a lunch with Wes and Scott. Scott and I often butted heads so, was a little nervous about the meeting. Scott was his usually big personality and very friendly. Funny, he would often ban me and then I would see him at an event, and he would be as friendly as ever. That changed near the end, but that is another story,
End pt1 (probably should stop here but if interested in more let me know. Also should the Feisty come back in a much milder persona or let him die?)
Glad to have you back. Hope to see you post more. Shook your hand at a baseball game function like 15 years ago, that's about the extent of our dealings.Feisty! and you rang....

Did anybody ever find his toboggan that was left at the Albertsons parking lot?Did I have it wrong? I can't remember what Leonard Smalls schtick was.
Never thought I'd see a reply like this to a FiestyFrog post. You should definitely post more. I recall much of what you have discussed but never heard the private details. Post more and more often!
He has definitely had his moments, but I’ve found him an interesting poster for the two and a half decades I’ve been here.Never thought I'd see a reply like this to a FiestyFrog post.
I've also been here (under different screen names) for more than two decades--my Fiesty memories are not as mellow as yours. He has definitely had his moments, but I’ve found him an interesting poster for the two and a half decades I’ve been here.
I was with my son and Wes introduced us on the patio. Andy Dalton was right behind you....Glad to have you back. Hope to see you post more. Shook your hand at a baseball game function like 15 years ago, that's about the extent of our dealings.
