Rivals: Utah gives notice to MWC

Frankly, the article doesn't really make sense. Top paragraph talks about Utah giving notice to the MWC that they intend to leave, but by the end of the article it doesn't sound like they have been offered by the Pac 10. Headline of the article reads "Utes Give Notice".

If we lose anyone to the PAC, it will be Colo State.

I'd like to think you guys are right, but the Utah Rivals site is very credible. They wouldn't take this to press unless there was something there.

That said, as we have seen over the last week, there can be smoke...and even fire...and it looks very real....only to find out it is one of those fake fireplaces.

How did you arrive at this conclusion?I haven't heard Colorado State mentioned anywhere to the Pac 10?

So I think there's a theme to all these rumors that have jumped the gun lately. Going back a year or so, what do the following sources have in common?

GoPowerCat.com, OrangeBloods.com and UteZone.com.

All are Rivals sites. We know how absurd gopowercats was. Who knows the credibility of orangebloods; Chip Brown threw out so many rumors and scenarios that he was bound to get one of them right. We'll have to see how the credibility of utezone plays out, but I don't think the track record of these sites is very good. I can only hope HToady is right in his/her prediction.

Natural Rival, wraps up the state. e.g., Wash, Wash St., Oregon, Oregon St, Az, Az St.

Just because it hasn't been mentioned on a fan website, doesn't mean that isn't what the conference is doing.. I think we learned that.

Just a common sense (historical) assessment.

He was right on basically everything as of when he said it. It was a fluid situation. I guess you would have preferred he waited until today to report anything he was told?

Chip had UT folks whispering in his ear every time there was a change in direction. Rather than reporting these as changes in direction, he tended to report them as if they were the final conclusion. And the changes kept coming. That's where he lost credibility.

which is ironic since he was first (and more accurate than anyone else) on what he reported. I guess that doesn't matter though

Agree 100%. It was as if Chip was reporting on a baseball game that ended with one team winning 9-8. Only Chip kept kept reporting it as "it's now 3-2, the game is over", "now it's 5-4, the game is over", "7-6, game over".........you get the point.

not sure why all this is focused on him. Everyone else reported the same things, just after him. ESPN: Texas, Tech, OU, OSU to Pac10 Imminent

I suspect VERY since they were so queit throughout the process, but I was surprised to read this morning that most think the new B12 tv deal is with FS, not ESPN (though niether makes sense in my mind)
