okie lite kisses up! But he stated 9 teams in big 12?

T Boone Pickens is now generating wind power from his mouth. Blah blah bluster bluster ... then bend over so he and his Okie Aggies can take it up the rear, knowing their place in the hierarchy of college athletics as the beeyotches of both OU and UT. What else are they going to do? Not a damn thing. What are their other real options? None.

So, in the future T Boone and OSU, shut up first, bend over and smile second. Anything else is a waste of time and you're not fooling anyone about who you think you are.

The Oklahoma Land Grant College really doesn't have much of a choice, neither does Tech... If I'm not mistaken, neither has had an unshared conference championship since Tech joined the SWC in 1958... Nor, have either of them even acheived a top 10 finish to my knowledge (Tech finished #11 in 1976)...

Other than receiving a nice revenue stream, they both would be oh so much better off in the MWC where they could have a chance at an occasional top 10 finish (like TCU has done 3 of the last 5 years) and a BCS bowl...

They both hang their hats on their flagship universities and are much worse off as a result... I, for one, marvel at their poor vision- we suffered from the same lack for decades. When we were forced off of the teat, we found our own way.

I would have a completely different opinion though if you are asking me as a fan of TCU vs. a fan of a big schhool vs. AD of a school, etc...

Would you feel the same if TCU has been to a BCS game every year and no other team in the conference had and TCU was on prime time every weekend and the other teams only were when they were playing us?

As a fan, I think it should be equal since you are choosing to affiliate with them in a conference, but I understand why a school like Texas that brings in so much more of that revenue than any other school in the conference that it seems unfair. Of course, I also think we should have a playoff since that is more fair than the current system

Cool. Just wanted your opinion. Personally, I would feel the same way regarding equal revenue distribution given your TCU example above. As much as the SEC teams hate each other, an admirable thing about the conference is they understand that the betterment of the individual institutions leads to the betterment of the conference and vice versa.

In my opinion, UT may not be an academic fit for the SEC, but they are moreover a horrible fit in virtually every conference because of the reason just mentioned regarding the SEC. And to me, a conference should be about the amelioration and advocacy of all of its member institutions, not one (or some) institution(s) at the expense of the others.

I don't mean this in defense of Texas, and I have no direct knowledge, but I suspect they would be alot more open to ideas to equal distribution of revenue if they were in a conference like the SEC where each team's revenue generation is closer. All the teams in the SEC have big stadiums and fill them up. They are all on national tv multiple times, etc... They pull much more equal weight than teams like Baylor and ISU do compared to Texas if that makes sense.

And I wasn't trying to be evasive earlier, just it is an answer that depends on what perspective you were asking me to consider it from. I think most here know, I don't avoid questions.

Fair enough. But even the SEC has Vanderbilt and Mississippi St.

Where did they think they were going if they weren't staying?

The wanted to blow up the Big 12 deal and salvage the PAC 10 deal. They also can't stand the revenue sharing plan which gives UT, A&M, and OU a bigger share of revenue. The Aggies thing really pissed them off and rightfully so.

I bet all ut has to do is call, the sec would be glad to take them. But wait, that would require playing and sec schedule.

Remind them those outside the little 10 are now calling it the Longhorn conference. That'll REALLY piss them off.

I don't blame them.

They still draw well and 2 out of 12 isn't too bad.

But that isn't an option since they could never get an invite to another aq conference on their own merit. They are at the mercy of Texas.

What amazed me about this new TV deal was that the conference dregs (Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas State) get the same TV money as Tech. Missouri and Okie Lite. Those three teams stared into the abyss of being left behind to try and latch on with the MWC (best case), C-USA or the WAC. Then the conference stays together and they get $17MM per year to be the conference doormat? I would be ticked off too. Those three loser teams are the biggest winners in this deal. They are rewarded for sucking!

This is why I don't see Bevo and the Backstabbers lasting too long.

I can somewhat understand those three getting a bit bigger share of the annual revenues, but giving those three all of the buyout penalties from Nebraska and Colorado leaving is pure extortion BS. "We get to keep all their departure money or we'll screw all of you even worse. Take it or leave it."

it is a bit weird, but I don't think Tech, Mizzou and Okie Lite had any other offers without accompanying Texas

Missouri was going to get the SEC slot with Texas A&M.

The entire would does not revolve around the University of Texas, contrary to what you may believe. You can change your name all you want but you're a closet whorns homer and everyone knows it.
