Resistance to longhorn Conference from tech and okie Lite

okie lite has joined tech in resisting the new TV agreement in the big 111111111111 minus 2 conference. I think both of them are tired of being a caddie in all of this while ut, ou and aggy get a house and membership to a cozy country club. raiderpower.com is blowing up right now in stoking the revolt.

Not surprising. Big 12-2 and Big 12 lite don't really sound all that great, but Tech & OSU were mostly turned off by the fact that the official new name was going to be the Big III (+7).

Just out of curiosity, do you think all conferences should change their means of revenue distribution to be merit based, or just whichever conference involves UT?

Do you think everyone at your workplace should be paid the same since the company is doing what it is with all of them?

Money isn't everything. I get the feeling that the bloom is coming off the rose for Texas. There are just so many bridges you can burn before it catches up to you.

We are much better off than the Baylors, ISUs, K-States of the world. Texas is toxic and we should be thankful we are not in their club. I hope Utah sees the potential of the mountain west and seriously considers sticking with us.

Well, at least we have our pride intact, for whatever that's worth. And these are "amateur" games that carry federal tax exempt status. This should not be confused with the corporate world or professional sports.

Some schools are like the Clippers. They aren't trying to win a championship, but alums/fans like to watch their team play the big boys.

Unfortunately in college athletics nowadays everyone has a price at which they will sell out their pride and their principles. For Tech and OSU that price appears to be 14 million a year. For baylor, not so much :tongue:

I don't understand what you want me to specify, but I will re-phrase the question anyway. Since all of the major conferences distribute common revenue equally (with the exceptions of whichever conference UT is in and the Big East - which is arguably not a major conference), do you think they should all switch to merit based revenue sharing for common revenue like TV contracts?

As to your question, personally, I think comparing an athletics conference to a workplace is apples and oranges, but I'll answer:

I'm in favor of conferences sharing common revenue equally.
I'm not in favor of workplaces paying everyone the same.
As stated, I think these are completely different though.

I would have a completely different opinion though if you are asking me as a fan of TCU vs. a fan of a big schhool vs. AD of a school, etc...

Would you feel the same if TCU has been to a BCS game every year and no other team in the conference had and TCU was on prime time every weekend and the other teams only were when they were playing us?

As a fan, I think it should be equal since you are choosing to affiliate with them in a conference, but I understand why a school like Texas that brings in so much more of that revenue than any other school in the conference that it seems unfair. Of course, I also think we should have a playoff since that is more fair than the current system

Good question tcugdu! I went back to replay what he said but they have put OSU sports combo on with the sing are you ready to go! LOL
