Further expansion is coming, it's just a matter of how quickly. The Big10 is still trying to convince ND to join, threatening them with exclusion if they don't join a conference.
The Big10 will only add AAU research schools, so their top targets are UNC, Duke, Virginia, and Georgia Tech.
Whenever the Big10 expands, the SEC will follow suit to maintain the status quo. UNC and Duke are possible targets, if the conference doesn't mind having two schools in the same state. Virginia Tech and NC State would be their other choice.
The Pac12 would like to expand, but there aren't any viable candidates. It looks like their only choice will be to wait out the 11 years and then make another pass at UT.
Meanwhile, the Big12 sits rwiddlimg it's thumbs, while Clemson and FSU practically beg the conference for a spot. Bowelsby is half the commish Neinas was.

We're fine. I'd rather the Big 12 be lean & mean than make a move just because we can or for TV like the bloated so-called "super conferences" which will all lose their luster soon enough. The Big 12 is now the most geo-centric conference (sans WVU) and we're the only BCS conference that will play every team each year, lets keep it that way instead of try to keep up with the Jones'.
Good point 2000. I agree with Stiffy(had to do it) that FSU and Clemson would be great additions to the conference. If we can make WVU work we can do the same with those two.
Anybody else hear that it's basically Texas holding up expansion. For some reason they don't want that championship game. Not that they'll be close anytime soon.

I prefer a ten 10 B12, but if we have to expand I'd prefer just adding FSU & Clemson and going to this alignment with a 9 game conference schedule.

I think it is imperative that the Big 12 do all it can to add FSU and friends. I think it will strengthen the conference and cement itself as one of the top four for years to come. I also think having everyone play each other every year is a detriment. All we do is knock each other out of better records and better bowl opportunities.

Latest news its that BSU if headed back to the MWC, which just reworked its deal so it no line sucks so bad. The MWC is still trying to entice BYU back.
Cincy and UConn still expect an ACC invite after the B1G takes two more. If that happens, then the B12 will get FSU and Clemson.
Additionally, there is a rumor (or just a message board post, which if about just as good) that the P12 has been sniffing around BYU and has had legal involved to do some due diligence. Other recent mentions of BYU to the P12 have happened on more legit sources such as ESPN. Who knows....
If the P12 is going to expand again without Texas, then the GoR worked and the B12 is safe.

Having an eastern block of the Big 12 that is comprised of Miami, Florida State, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and one or two others seems to destabilize the conference.
Quick question Stiff- is it pretty common knowledge about FSU? There is a very good possibility that I wasn't paying attention while that was going on. If they wanted in that badly and we didn't do it. Mmm not a good start for Bowelsby.
FWIW, I don't think adding good teams is keeping up with the Jonse's,it's just strengthing our place @ the top. Just my 2cents.

I ain't Stiffy, but the "common knowledge" (i.e., speculation) on FSU/Clemson is that they are holding out until (1) they have a better idea what the real cost of exiting the ACC will be, and (2) there is absolutely no possibility for an SEC invitation (what they really want).
Neither Bowlesby nor Neinas could do anything about this^^^^. Dodds/UTx don't have any control over this, either.

Blake, a few months ago there were leaks that FSU and Clemson were in talks with the Big12. At the same time FSU's Chancellor can out and very publicly said that his school would not consider moving to the Big12, and he was quickly told to hush up by boosters and the athletic department.

So yeah, while all this is based on speculation, there's reason to think FSU wants out of the ACC, which is run by basketball schools, has access to lesser bowls, and has a smaller media contract than the Big12.
Why they haven't joined the Big12 yet is anyone's guess. A few months ago they seemed ready to leave, but its speculated that the Big12 declined. Since the ACC added Louisville rather than UConn, things have stabilized to the point that I doubt the Big12 could get FSU on its own.

This. Until the exit fee thing is settled, there will be no movement, no begging, no nothing. Just a lot of ADs making 'hey hows it going' phone calls to each other. And a whole lot of fans clogging bandwidth sharing their 'inside knowledge' and their declarations that they know better what needs to happen.

I have made this comment on several occasions, as well. The additional money and prestige could allow them to lure a good coach, upgrade facilities and recruit better players. They are a state flagship U, bring a bowl, and create a real rival for tech.
