I thought this thread was going to be about a character from the Office.

For all you guitarists out there:

How would you play this chord?

e: 7
B: 7
G: 7
D: 6
A: 7
E: x

Bar with middle finger on 7 with a little curl to let off of the D string? That seems nearly impossible.

I keep seeing this in blues tabs I look up (yeah, I'm a guitar noob) and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to accomplish it. I'm probably making it alot harder than it is, though...

I would play that one by figuring out an alternate way to play that chord.

Not really sure as I don't play this chord much.. I'd probably try just playing it x7677x, with middle on first 7, pointer on 6, then ring and pinkie on other 7s.. alternatively you could put your pinky on the "e" and ring on the "G," considering that most folks in that scenario would inadvertently mute the "B" with their ring finger.

Think the "textbook" way of doing that is to bar the pinkie across G, B, e

Actually, the best way would be to bar the B and E with the pinky, ring on the G, middle on the D (6th fret) and index on the A.

Don't know why they wouldn't have you just play the low E, its an octave lower than the E you play on the A string.

Actually I looked up one of the tabs I was mentioning and the E is just open. I don't know why I put the "x" in there.

Thanks for your help on that, guys. I'm going to try all these and report back. Honestly I was just expecting to get razzed when I asked that question...

You could also try playing the A with your middle finger, D with your index, bar the G and B with your ring, and use your pinky for the E. Sort of similar to playing a C9 at the top.

This is the fingering I try to use except I try to bar the G B & e with my ring finger. I am a newbie and it is not easy. One reason that you might not play the open E is you can use the same fingering for different chords by sliding up or down to different frets and the open E would not work for those chords.

Baring the top three strings might actually be the better way to do it. My primary guitar has been a classical for a while now and the thicker neck makes my mind think a little differently when it comes to finger configuration/placement. My digits just aren't big enough to effectively bar that many strings high up the fretboard on a classical guitar.

So I tried all these out and Frognosticator's suggestion worked best for me, primarily since the song called for sliding that same shape from 5 to 7 and back. It's a nice chord too. Thanks all, didn't realize we had so many guitarists on here

I come on here and expect to see a discussion of Creed and there is this stuff? What if Creed opens this thread and sees this crap? We will never be able to recruit him.

Everybody knows you put one in the stink and two in the pink.
