I saw that. So very sad. Sounds like it happened in the early morning hours. I’m sure more details will come out soon.

It’s such a cliché, but life can turn on a dime at any moment. Make the most of each day everyone.
Yes Lisa, live in the now and not the past or the future ... or one loses today.

I don't trust any motorist these days. I do a lot of bike rides out on the streets, and its crazy how many motorists aren't paying attention. Something you truly notice when you are on the road biking.

I got hit by a guy in a roundabout on my bike in Keller back in October and he acted like it was my fault.

I don't even ride by bike on sidewalks or shoulders anymore because while I might be holding up traffic riding on the road, at least drivers can see me. I feel like I am invisible when I ride on a sidewalk or shoulder. I'd rather have angry cars behind me upset that they can't pass me, than get hit by someone not paying attention to the sidewalk/shoulder. I've had too many close calls.

And its not just those not paying attention, some just like to harass cyclists. Just this morning I was biking back from the mid cities to Fort Worth and some jackass in a pickup truck decided to buzz me on Handley-Ederville Road(which is a 3 lane road). The road was empty except for me and the truck, he could have picked any lane, I was in the far right side of the right lane, and he decided to buzz me(my left elbow was maybe 6 inches away from the truck) and honk his horn. I guess he had nothing better to do on a Saturday Morning than harass cyclists. This startled me and caused me to swerve to the right off the road and crash, and the spikes on my bike chain gear stabbed me about 25 places in the back of my right calf as well as completely tear the skin off my left ankle.
Not a good thing for that truck driver to do. Sorry for your injury.
One question…When riding your bike, do you stop for stop signs & red lights?

No. He hit a car in Vegas while jogging. Totally different.
Was stationed in Vegas for a while. Not a safe place to be on the road in a vehicle much less a motorcycle, bicycle or jogging. Lost a good friend and multiple people in my unit to road accidents there.

PS-know you were joking around. Just triggered some memories.

"I don't want you to panic, but I am going to be honest with you," the dispatcher told Kalabrya Haskins. "We do have an incident on the highway, but I can't confirm if that's your husband or not." The dispatcher then told her to "hang tight" while she tried to get more information.

Those are terribly sad words to read, but I have to praise the dispatcher for caring and trying to responsibly offer Mrs Haskins as much support and assistance as she could. Quite possibly the dispatcher broke the letter of the policy manual, but I admire her effort to express active concern for another human in obvious acute distress. I hope she at least receives a positive comment in her personnel file from her supervisor.

Whoops. I guess the story was a bit worse than I thought. A bar fight, ketamine, lots of alcohol and the dreaded female companion…

I'd LIKE to say I've never gotten drunk and walked along a South Florida highway...

Wait - Tampa isn't technically South Florida, is it?

That sound you almost heard was nearly 50,000 students at USF nodding knowingly at their ridiculously misnamed school.

Oh, wait--are you saying...
