QB Stats...killing some time

Casey 2011:
68 attempts for 201 positive yards
3 ypc

158 passer rating

Casey 2012:
21 attempts for 71 positive yards
3.4 ypc

180 passer rating

Tre 2012:
103 attempts for 512 positive yards
5 ypc

129 passer rating

The whole TB "added rushing dynamic" is a bit over dramatized on here. It's not like TB is running the ball like Johnny Football. Clearly TB had his best rushing day this last week with 77 yards. Based on Casey's average if he had 103 attempts like TB he would be a whopping 159 yards behind him for the year. Not exactly game changing. Passing stats are so dominant I didn't even bother. I think we all know that part is not even a discussion.

fwiw, Boykin has been beaten up and hasn't really been 100% most games. His speed and agility have been visibly hampered most games.

Also, CP would most likely not have had nearly as many carries as Boykin, so to compare their potential total yardage, you would have to use CP's career cpg rather than Boykin's carrie total this season.

You really need to stop this nonsense ! We have a huge game this weekend.

TB has done a great job in Big 12 ball, excluding freshmen errors.
2011, CP had a much more seasoned offense in a more modest league.

2012, CP's games...Grambling 1-10/KU 1-10/UV 4-8/SMU 6-6...
no winning records.
2012, Boykin's gms... ISU 6-6/BU 6-5/TT 7-5/WVU 6-5/OSU 7-4/KSU 10-1/UT 8-3.
no losing records.

CP got banged up in a couple of his 4 2012 games... struggled several times to
get up off the ground.

This may be the place for this discussion... but not the right time!

Cheers !

I was actually surprised what the numbers looked like because in my mind TB was making up a lot of yards with his running. If they will/can stay with the "Texas Gameplan" these last two games I think he can make up for passing deficiencies and shorten the game by keeping the clock rolling. This was the Fran method in the first couple years especially. I have been begging for it and we finally got it last week. Our play calling finally was such that the opponents had to back off bringing all out pressure every snap.

BTW, relax because our talking about stuff on a fan site doesn't impact how players play or coaches prepare. I'll be there Saturday cheering my [Craig James] off for TB. He is clearly our best option at QB right now. Not even debatable.

Glad you'll be cheering on TB Saturday.... However, the kids DO read this crap and we don't really need to be throwing CP stuff( a negitive) in TBs face right now. After we get past Saturday, then everyone can go to war over this subject. But if you want to keep going on and on about CP, when he might not even be here in the fall next year.... then go on and on about it. Right now I care about TB and don't give ashit about CP until he re-proves himself !

Cheers !

None of that means anything. It's the back breaking scrambling 3rd down conversions that TB is so good at. The comparison that will matter will be a sophomore TB vs senior CP.

Right now, TB is an electrifying QB who will give us a chance to knock off UT and OU in back to back games. Not very many QBs, let alone freshman QBs, would be able to put their teams in that position.

To be fair to TB, I don't think the YPC differential is an accurate reflection of their respective running abilities. TB is running the ball into 7 and 8 man fronts where the run is the defense's first read. When CP would scramble usually over half the defensive players were downfield in coverage and even when he was running the option the defenses were still establishing coverage in the event that he would pull back and attempt to pass. Much harder running situation for TB.
