Punt Returns and Skye Dawson and the Poinsettia Bowl

Just thought I'd make a couple small points...

last year in the Poinsettia Bowl Skye Dawson was our leading receiver with four catches for 85 yards and the game winning TD.

In that game, BCarter was fielding punts and he fumbled an almost identical punt at the 5 yard line, leading to a La Tech TD.

I just re-watched the Poinsettia Bowl and our offense in that game looks like the '07 Patriots compared to the [Craig James] show we put on the field for the BWW Bowl... and as we know, the Poinsettia Bowl seemed like it sucked at the time.

Conclusion: we really (mating between GDU & Native Frog) suck at punt returns and playing the offense.

GP hates turnovers as much as any coach I've ever heard. The football kind, not the fruit kind, obvs.

Remember when he publicly told AD that if he threw another INT, he would be benched?

That is why I am surprised, after BCarter, Mccoy and Dawson that he even allowed the ST coach to authorize fielding ANY punt.

Our special teams coach has quite a resume.
My brother-in-law and I were talking about the muffed punt (again) yesterday, and between the two of us we couldn't remember a game in the last few seasons outside of the Okie State/Tech game last year when a team has fumbled away the ball on a kick return inside the five ... except for our Frogs. I'm sure it's happened, as we don't watch every single game that's played. We just couldn't remember it happening. Does anyone approach our record in this regard?

Carter was the one that dropped the first down pass in overtime on 4th down... wasn't a very good throw by CP4, but still probably should've been caught.

The ball hit him right in the middle of his stomach.... the bottom part of the "3" on his jersey.

He was named the MVP of that game, because he made a nice run after catch for a TD in the final quarter. He also dropped a nice deep 3rd down conversion which caused a 3 & out on the first serious of the game. He sucked in that game, just like all of our players did. The true MVP = Anston Kelton. When your punter is the player of the game.... how the hell did we win that game?

It was a fairly low pass though, no? Seem to remember him having to almost hit the deck to get low enough for it. Regardless, as I stated earlier, still should've been caught.

We did score 31 points and have 400 yards of offense........

Nah, I just re-watched it a minute ago. He bent down a little bit, but he could have easily caught and ran. If he was standing completely straight it would have hit him in the waist or so.

Ah ok. I think maybe my perception on it was a coping mechanism to not get mad at either CP4 or BC3 for the way that game ended. haha

Yeah... I've never been angrier/drunker at a football game than that one.

Indeed... my face was all over the television at the Fiesta Bowl, which was bad enough, but I'm glad they didn't have a camera in my face at that one... momma wouldn't have been proud.
