The wife and I are considering making the trip to Provo for the game at BYU on 11/15. I know some of you out there have probably made this trip and I wanted to seek some input.

Stadium environment? Friendly or no? I’m assuming the Mormons won’t attack us…

Where to stay?

Anyone know what section the allotted TCU tickets are in? (Ticket office is closed till tomorrow)

Any other advice….

And yes I know this will be a likely loss for the Frogs but I don’t need to hear “don’t bother going.” We want to go for the fun of it.

My wife and I have been to games at U of Utah 4 times, but this year will, like yours, be our first to Provo. We're staying in dowtown SLC as my wife likes luxury hotels and that area seems to have the better brands..

We went to Okie ST/BYU Friday night game last year before the TCU/Utah game- DEFINITELY GO! It is one of the best CFB environments we have ever attended. We stayed in Salt Lake City and drove there- lots of bar options there- there really is no drinking at BYU (we snuck a couple in the car when we parked!) Not sure if that works in your timeline though.

BYU fans will go out of there way to be nice. If you buy tickets in the visitor section, they will give free ice cream during the game.
There is a very small "tailgate" area just south of the stadium where there are regular BYU alcohol tailgate groups (lot 17). They will likely offer a beer or two.

Here is the link to the gameday activities and map: https://byucougars.com/news/2025/08/27/byu-football-gameday-information-for-the-2025-season
Lots of good food options in the stadium.

Most BYU fans do not tailgate. There are some Frog Alley like family areas around the stadium.

November can be cold, especially for a night game.

As an alternative, one could stay in Park City and drive the back way into Provo through Heber.

If you’re renting a car might look into Park City. We’ve been there many times and it’s a good ski resort area. Fun whether you ski or not. But with the game being mid November may be too close to ski season to get any good deals.

Back in the day and first year of MWC, we went out there and will say they treated opposing team player parents to a tour of their facilities and were very cordial. I think our seats would have been in the NW corner and mostly endzone.
They got up on us by 18 or so and I thought the undefeated MWC run we were on was over when Tye Gunn went down for the last time. Jeff Ballard came in, Corey Rogers returned a KO for a TD and I think final was 51-50. The cordial Mormons when they were up and tasting victory turned into a little less than that, when we rallied from that huge deficit.
Not sure stadium still full of metal bleachers now, but back then the entire place (60k?) would stand up all at once and stomp on the bleachers when prompted on scoreboard. Sound bounced off the mountains. Being an LSU alum I was somewhat stunned when I was totally unable to get ANY drink with caffeine at their concessions. Their “tailgating” was non-existant but stadium staff did say they had a tradition of cooking hotdogs somewhere in the parking lots!
Can’t remember where we stayed but it was same place as the team up in SLC.

Thanks for all the info. We’ve been to SLC in the summer and yes it is beautiful. I think the average high for November is around 50. Sounds good to me. We would probably rent a car so staying in downtown SLC would be fine.

When me and a buddy went BYU had host standing in each section. They could answer questions about the stadium like where the best concessions were and where restrooms were.

Be sure to get a Cougar Tail when you are in the stadium. It is a 15-imch Maple Bar.
