Press-Enterprise: UCR finally makes David Patrick’s hiring official

RIVERSIDE—The Great Highlander Coach Search lurched to a conclusion Wednesday. But if UC Riverside’s men’s basketball program has ended up with the right guy, the timing will be immaterial.
David Patrick’s hiring was assumed for the better part of a week. Several scribes — including the one you’re reading — tweeted during the course of business Wednesday that it was a done deal, that sources had confirmed the TCU assistant head coach had been offered and had accepted the job.
Early Wednesday, athletic director Tamica Smith Jones reportedly told her staff of the hiring. But the news release didn’t go out to confirm the move until 5:50 p.m.
