Present Big12 vs Future Big12

It’s the AP…who cares. CFP is what matters now and tomorrow’s Big 12 has 4 teams because OU isn’t in tomorrow’s Big 12.

Please bp4tcu .?. CFP poll is 'primarily' for the top 4 teams, tho also places NY6 invites, while also political ... but the Tomorrow's Big12 AP Top 20 is 5 teams... Cincy#2 .. OSU#10 .. BYU#14 .. UH#17 .. and Baylor#18 .... following week 10.

It's the number that shows on the TV screen so it must be more important than AP and any other rankings.

Useless comparison. The teams are ranked based on their current conference/schedule and not their future conference.

No matter how you put it, the future Big 12 will be viewed as weaker as it is now because of Texas and Oklahoma leaving.

The new Big 12 will be like Cincinnati fighting for their right to be in the playoffs, or for the big 12, to continue being classified as a power 5 conference.

Just putting up the #s printed in the paper(AP and Coaches poll very similar)... don't require a long explanation of what everyone already knows.

And as I said, the AP doesn’t matter, so there’s only 4. That post was really difficult to navigate btw.

FIFY. Texas doesn't deserve to be mentioned with OU.

Well, lol, its almost the same in the CFP poll too, in it's Top15

Present Big12 has 3 teams in the CFP Top 15
Tomorrow's Big12 has 4 teams in the CFP Top 15
P12 has 1 team in the CFP Top 15(one other Top 25)
ACC has 1 team CFP Top 15(one other Top 25)

Point being ... it may very well appear the Big12 may not lose
its #3 common/normal ranking or status among the P5 .....

Not sure this deserves its own thread, but I hadn't seen it posted elsewhere on the board:

12-team playoff back on the board with only the minor tweak of it guaranteeing auto-bids for the P5 leagues + 1 G5 champion, rather than the originally proposed '6 highest ranked champions' regardless of conference. In practice it'll make no difference most of the time.

Bottom line for us: if this passes (and everyone seems to think it will), TCU will be a member of a nicely balanced, competitive conference that has a guaranteed path to compete for a national championship. You can't complain about that, even if it would be nice to keep playing OU and Texas.

Limey, I thought I recall they were leaning back to the 8 playoff teams... so is your 6 highest ranked champions, the 8 team formula including the 2 highest ranked non-league champs.?. previously thinking it was the P5 champs plus next 3 highest ranked(with/without G5).

Personally, the 8 team formula, which seemed the most popular(at one point) and less disruptive to academics/regular season/and other bowls, is surely the most logical... with each team playing the same # of games in the CFP. Assuredly the true NCAA Champion is in those 8 invites.

It'll be disrespected at first, but it has way more room to grow than any G-5.

Reports are that eight is off the table at this point: not enough at-large bids for ND and the SEC to vote for it, and the Pac, ACC and Big XII won't accept an all at-large system without autobids.

I agree that 12 is too many, but that's what it has to be to work for the Big XII.

Believe Okie lite has a great 'opportunity' to make it into the 4 team CFP system this year... which is a Present and Tomorrow Big12 member.

They'd need Oregon or Cincinnati to slip up, I think. Hard to see the Big Ten not having a one-loss champion, Georgia is in, and the committee will not put Oklahoma State in over unbeaten Cincinnati because because they're Oklahoma State not Oklahoma; thems the rules.

Thats The Facts Jack !!! You left out Bama... There are 2 more weeks and CCGs left that could squirrel in a surprise team... tOSU has to play both MICH/MSU over the next 2 weeks and can Oregon win 3 more games too! Irish could slip in the back door before an Okie Lite too. Next 3 weeks will be fun to watch...
