Possible coaches if changes are made

If we do change our head coach or a coordinator or clean house totally, then we need to find someone who recruit/portal/develop some strong OL and DL. I know GP really struggled to recruit in the trenches late i his career here, but how has Sonny done here? Obviously, we are struggling this year on both sides.

The big NG left for cash at OU, but who else has Sonny brought in that has made a difference? I don't remember any personnel changes the last two weeks. Are there any other options the rest of the season? If not, then how do we change this for next year? It is a disaster area right now, but is 2025 going to be worse for us in the OL and DL? Scary to think about.

What is needed is somebody who has played football and/or is from a football coaching tree/family. As some on here have said, we need somebody who has the experience of changing personnel on a constant basis. OR somebody from the NFL.
Additionally, we need someone who can slot in with the 2026 exodus of the current crew. We need someone who has experienced rejection like Josh Heupel. A leader of young men should have a track record of scratching, crawling for every level of success he has had.

That man is Jim Leonhard, the current DB coach/passing game coordinator in Denver. Check out his background. The other candidate for 2026 is Frank Cignetti JR.. He currently is the Green Bay QB coach. He did not play football as far as I can find but he was raised in a family of deadpan, seriously confident football people.

We won't be hiring a head coach away from a Big Ten or SEC program.
We'll have two choices. An unproven hotshot coordinator that will probably bail (if he is successful) as soon as possible to greener pastures in the B10 or SEC.......or a retread.

We got so spoiled with GP. He was just weird and unpolished enough to where we were able to keep him through the prime of his career. Something like that aint happening again. I think the expectations are a bit skewed because of that, it's more likely we'll just get into a pattern of coaches that "disappoint" because they aren't winning conference titles and going to the playoffs every few years and we'll be recycling coaches like Texas Tech.

I wanted to take that chance on Tony Elliott and still would if TCU was hiring, and if successful he might be the type that would love TCU and stay a long time - currently age 44 with a wife and two sons.

The Dykes hire was trashed by a lot of TCU fans because he didn't win a lot at Cal. That was supposedly proof that he wasn't any good. Tony Elliott is 9-17 at Virginia.
