Because I remember reading an article written during Black History Month about the black "pioneers" in TCU sports programs. The "firsts" in track and basketball were mentioned, along with former and current black athletes on TCU basketball, football, and track teams.

Baseball wasn't mentioned. Just curious where Porter Brown fits in--the first, or one of many.

Note: The article was written by a "Killerfrogs" specialist.

My first Frog baseball game was Spring of 80. Dropped a double header to UTA. There was a black player who hit with power, middle of the batting order, and I can't remember his name.

I only started paying attention to TCU baseball in 2010. College World Series and being able to actually watch a game on TV or on-line were the reasons I engaged.

To be honest, when I was a student, I didn't even know TCU had a baseball team.

Football, yes. Basketball, yes. Attended those games if/when I didn't have to work.

Only knew there was a track team because an old Albuquerque elementary school buddy was on it. Only knew there was a golf team because there was a guy in my freshman dorm who said he was on it (he wore golf clothes all the time and seemed to spend all his daylight hours doing something other than attending class.)

So, fellow posters, give this old man a friggin' break that I don't have every player memorized.

Bernard Walker was the first African American Frog baseball player. Lettered in 1985 and 1986. Still holds numerous stolen base and hitting records. Speedster who also hit with power. Played many years in the Cincinnati Reds organization. Reaching the Triple A level. His older brother David Walker was an All-American Flying Frog who anchored the first sprint relay team to win a National Championship for TCU in the early 80s. Truly a Frog family of firsts!!

Seriously? so many posters on here act like they are really involved and supportive of TCU as a whole but then don't know that we have one of the best former black TCU baseball players on our Board of Trustees? Geez...
I have no idea who is on TCU's board of Trustees. Don't really care either.
