Dreaming here, but getting Signature status and taking Houston’s spot the last week of March would be better. It’s two weeks after the Players and two weeks before the Masters. There are no other Signature events in that stretch.

Those dates might allow for a total rye overseed, too, which would dramatically change the look, with the added incentive that it would be another opportunity for the pros to play on the same rye fairways, rough / bent grass greens combination that they see at the Masters.
That is the dream scenario for Colonial, although as frog525 brought up, rye overseed and how supposedly all the members now want the course to play don't jive with each other. Not that I think that really matters much at all to anyone in reality.

I hate what these "Signature" tournaments have done to the Tour. I don't think a single Signature tournament became better because it became that, but you're not going to get a decent field anymore without that label.

Not sure I buy the course being much easier with rye argument, but whatever that deficit is would likely be offset by March winds.

Besides, I’d rather have a Rory, Scottie, Aberg, Thomas or Schauffele as a champion at 17 under than a Ben Griffin or Daniel Berger at 12 under.

Watching this trash course in Memphis after seeing Colonial, Muirfield Village and Oakmont the last few weeks makes me sad that it’s a signature event.

lol. Complete brain fart on my part. Connecticut is even worse. Terrible golf course the week after the US Open and has no business being a signature event.
Yes it is. I live about 20 minutes from there and have played it about a dozen times. As bad as it looks on TV it’s worse in person
