That is the dream scenario for Colonial, although as frog525 brought up, rye overseed and how supposedly all the members now want the course to play don't jive with each other. Not that I think that really matters much at all to anyone in reality.Dreaming here, but getting Signature status and taking Houston’s spot the last week of March would be better. It’s two weeks after the Players and two weeks before the Masters. There are no other Signature events in that stretch.
Those dates might allow for a total rye overseed, too, which would dramatically change the look, with the added incentive that it would be another opportunity for the pros to play on the same rye fairways, rough / bent grass greens combination that they see at the Masters.
I hate what these "Signature" tournaments have done to the Tour. I don't think a single Signature tournament became better because it became that, but you're not going to get a decent field anymore without that label.
