Report from round 1. It was awesome. Got there a little before 8 and left at 6. Sat the range early in the morning and then later when the afternoon flights were there.

Got to shake hands with Corey Pavin.

Walked the front 9 and part of the back. Then to the cabana. Where Sonny and the Mrs were nearby.

The fan shop has a cool hat with Super Frog.

Saw Dahmen’s hole in one.

Webb Simpson is a class act.

Scottie could get applause coming out of the port o potty.

Life is good.

Ready for round 2.

Pavin -1 thru 10.

I'm surprised how far he is hitting the ball, he got a couple drives out there 280+. I'm sure wind aided and the fairways are probably relatively firm, but that's still really good for a 65-year old who was never close to long even in his prime. Olin Browne hasn't hit one over 260 yet, these courses must feel 9,000 yards to him.
Was impressed how well he played his woods today. Pretty accurate. He is in good shape. His caddie was using a cart.

David Frost was getting around pretty good.

Something to be said about staying in shape and active.

Reminds me of something Moose said during to pandemic stuff.

Some scoring out at Colonial this morning. Fowler -6 through 10. A bunch of players -3 for the day. Accessible pins and no wind?

After doubling the 9th, Springer worked hard to get back on the right side of the cut line, finally doing so with a birdie on 16. Routine par on 18 would have sent him to the weekend, but he 3-jacked from 33 feet. Brutal.

Edit: Looks like the cut line has moved to Even, so Springer may be around for the weekend after all. Hope he'll be able to make the most of it. Pulling for him.

I got out there in time to see Scheffler finish on 9 with a long approach and a bad chip bogey. Someone later told me he may have a back injury.

You often see officials granting pros questionable free relief from immovable obstructions. Weird thing yesterday where two officials denied Rickie Fowler stance relief from the paved path right of 14 because they didn't believe he intended to play the ball as it lay, tight along the chain-link boundary fence (which is not considered part of the course). The officials essentially said he had an unplayable lie, so relief wasn't warranted. Fowler played the shot anyway (and successfully got the ball back in play), proving he should have been granted relief. Worst part was that the rules guy in the booth then backed the ruling instead of admitting it should have gone the other way. As if a Tour pro would play a risky shot just to spite the official.
