Patterson extension?

Any updates?

I love the fact that TCU takes care of GP and his assistants, but I wish we would make a more public and timely "splash" with the announcement. It would have been great timing if we had announced an extension after Arky and Auburn were rumored to be after GP.

It'd would be a big help in recruiting and national awareness that GP is here to stay.

Didn't he just get one last year? Wouldn't it be sorta odd to give him an extention the year after the last one?

Then what about next year and the year after that, when someone else "puts him on their list"! His annual statement to the media that "he'll always listen to other offers" is more of a problem than any perceived lack of TCU affection towards Patterson.

I get what you're saying, but no. "All war is the art of deception." We don't need other schools knowing what we pay GMFP, no good can come of it.

Besides, if our finances were widely known it could discourage charitable giving to TCU.

Supposedly he just got a raise, not an extension. Already signed up till 2018. Cool thing is supposedly he only took a % of the raise and gave the rest to his assistants. GP is an awesome guy

I'm sure that somewhere in his contract there are incentives with automatic raises and bonuses for doing certain things to help the program and university.

An extension doesn't do much, IMO. I doubt GP is worried about TCU letting him go.

The raises for him and his assistants are noteworthy though, and I would like it if TCU made a bigger deal out of it when all these coaching rumors are swirling.

I personally am not worried about him leaving, but having a raise announced should help quiet all the detractors and sooth the nerves of recruits who are probably constantly being told by other schools that GP is leaving.

Not a huge deal, but it would be cool if we came out and said "Arkansas offered GMFP x-amount for x-years, he turned it down, and we gave him a raise, suck it Hawgs" (or something along those lines)

I think the fact that they aren't making a big deal out of it is fairly telling about their confidence in Coach P being here. IMO if they were stopping the pressed and making a big stink out of it, it would speak some sort of insecurity to me.
