Paris Olympics Thread

I thought lighting the balloon was cool. But that rapper Rim K? He was awful. And the lady(?) singer dressed in gold looked like she didn’t give a damn and she danced like an 80 year old.

However, I liked the masked torch bearer and really liked that the athletes sailed down the Seine to arrive at the Olympics.

Which part of my statement did you not understand?

Or maybe what exactly did you think they were doing with this portion of the opening ceremony?

They even went out of their way to include in their performance the popular "Christian" adaption of other last supper paintings where Jesus has a halo - one of the things that DiVinci intentionally left out of his version in what many assume was a statement that all were also common men
I didn't watch it, and even if I had I could have easily missed that part. Was it disrespectful? Yes, but lets not pretend that similar things happen to every religion every day of the week. And part of the whole schtick of drag queens is to poke fun at everything.

I mean, last I checked, France was a majority Catholic nation and they seem fine with it. Additionally, the only people I see truly upset about all of that are faux outrage pushers whose duty it seems is to complain or purposefully rile people up.

If Drag Queens in France are somehow affecting your Friday and Saturday in the states, I’d suggest you get out more and live a little.

Was I supposed to type something here?
I don't think anything will top the dude shooting a flaming arrow across the pitch to light the Olympic Torch in Spain some years ago.

The "Modern" Olympic Games have little to offer other than nonsense events. Break Dancing? Canoe Slalom? Please. I have things to do in the workshop...

Yeah, break dancing??….don’t understand that at all and about 40-50 years late on that aren’t they?

Although I really would watch Tug of War if they brought that back.

Uh. Google some Greek mythology and a Dionysus feast before getting your Christian panties into a wad based upon some social media uproar You read on X.

how does a fashion runway skit turn into a dinner table for Jesus for you? like at all? And where does the Papa Smurf guy laying on a platter fit into your concerns around this being blasphemous?
I thought it was very odd, but not something to catch the vapors over.

US soccer showed up today thankfully.

Aussie swim team is showing up so far big time.
I saw that the US men did win the 4x100 freestyle relay gold. That is good. The Aussies are always very good in the swimming competition.

I haven't followed US Swimming as closely as I once did, but it does seem like there is more parity in the sport nowadays. The US doesn't dominate the way it used to in that sport.

Even if it was not a mockery of the Last Supper, which I'm not 100% is true, it was simply stupid. Who the hell wants to see drag queens? Nobody. "Oh, we want to be inclusive" they say. Well, there's numerous groups they could have included, but no, they chose drag queens. And we're supposed to believe its because they want to be inclusive. There's a bridge over the Seine river for sale. Cheap.

The naked blue singer was a joke. The French love this guy? What morons.
