I think you guys need to relax and look at the number of stars that were in our starting lineups for our BCS teams in 2009 and 2010. I think you guys are more interested in recruiting in order to one up other schools on the "recruiting scoreboard" and view it as some kind of game or contest, rather than trusting our coaching staff to take whatever recruits they can get and coach them up.

Below in our starting lineups for our BCS teams I see mostly 2 stars with a few 3 stars sprinkled in and only one 4 star.

QB - 2 star Andy Dalton

Devil's advocate:
Now post our 2009 and 2010 schedules.

Not sure about our 2009 team, but I do think our 2010 team could have taken down Oregon or Auburn in a one game shot. We were a missed field goal away in Berkley or a blown 24 point lead in Tuscaloosa from getting the chance.

See my response to this in the other thread.

Devil's Advocate:

Post Alabama's starting line-up and the stars for the past five years. Then look at # of championships.

Now, for 2012:

RB - 4 star Waymon James
WR - 3 star Josh Boyce
WR - 4 star LaDarius Brown
WR - 3 star Brandon Carter (QB in high school)
TE - 3 star Corey Fuller
OL - 3 star Aviante Collins
OL - 2 star Blaize Foltz
C - 2 star James Fry
OL - 2 star Eric Tausch
OL - 3 star Tayo Fabuluje

2012 Starting Defense

DE - 3 star Stansly Maponga
DT - 4 star Chucky Hunter
DT - 3 star Davion Pierson
DE - 4 star Devonte Fields
LB -3 star Marcus Mallet / walkon Joel Hasley
LB - 3 star Kenny Cain
CB - 3 star Jason Verrett
SS - 3 star Elisha Olabode
FS - 3 star Chris Hackett
WS -3 star Sam Carter (QB in high school)
CB - 3 star Kevin White

It has obviously improved since then. The talent is getting better and the coaching is the same. That means the team is getting better, I hope. OT, the rivals picture of Blaize Foltz is hilarious:

But Rivals hardly gives out 2 stars anymore. A lot of those 2 stars we got back in the day would now be 3 stars in todays recruiting world because they want to generate more readers.

I'm pretty sure the guys used rivals to get the grading system for the above players. But if you look at scout and espn they aren't graded as high. I looked at Waymon on scout and he was just a 2 star with espn grading him at 76. Casey was also a 3 star on scout and a 77 on espn. With that being said it is impressive to see players graded as they were make the grade on the field where it counts! OK one still needs to prove themselves but I'm sure they will.
