OT - Movies thread

I went to see Marty Supreme a few days ago. I didn’t know much about it and had no idea what to expect.
It is basically about a ping pong champion. But it’s about 2 hrs and 45 minutes long and has about 15 story lines that are intertwined, some rather loosely. Basically, I had a motion sickness headache when I was done. I’ve never seen any movie like it before in my life. Just constant chaos from one scene to the next. A pretty unlikeable main character surrounded by many other characters, none of whom are redeeming.
It felt a bit like Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler. Just a bunch of chaos with story lines that don’t get much closure and characters that the viewer likely doesn’t care about.
It’s one of those that will likely be very polarizing. I’m sure there are critics praising it for its action and unpredictability. But, at the end of the day, it’s about ping pong…loosely. The story lines are somewhat nonsensical and seem contrived. Many could have been eliminated and the story would have been essentially the same.
If you like movies about chaos and self-destruction surrounding someone good at a sport no one in real life cares much about, this may be what you’ve been waiting for.
It has some surprising cameos, like Penn Gillette, George Gervin, and the homeless guy with the golden voice that was from a viral video a few years back.

How is the IPTV going? Easy to use? Interface ok?
Going well thus far, although I have learned some new things.

I use a fire stick but apparently they can get updated at times and make things funky. I would go back and get an ONN device and use that and may still switch to that.

It’s definitely overwhelming at first and quite honestly, I spent the first few days collating my channels and shows more than actually sitting down and watching things haha. It’s a lot of learn as you go on your own. The guide can be overwhelming but by messing with settings and favorites, and knowing where certain sections of channel types start, it’s pretty easy and clear. The interface looks like most channel guides but just far larger.

But I’ve got my favorites set up and that’s my main guide so far. I have local channels from my hometown, dfw, and Austin. I have international channels. I’ve been able to watch different nfl games airing only in certain places and definitely getting to watch practically every soccer game not aired here in the states.

I’ve been watching shows which I never had access to and the movies seem to come out pretty quickly. I need better internet speed to watch 4K movies but the 4K channels work great!

If you do it, I’d make a list of shows/movies you have liked and watch often and shows/movies you want to watch and have those ready to search for when starting.

I currently still have my YouTube and certain streaming memberships bc my family are shared on them but I will probably switch to this full time and never look back, it’s awesome!

Glad you mentioned the ONN device, saw that at Walmart today. Worried that it'll overwhelm me, but I'd definitely make a list of all my shows before hand. Thanks for the feedback.

The guide is pretty intuitive. All channels are grouped by content type and country. You can hide/block certain channels and channel groups from appearing, which also helps to clean things up.

Favorites for me are at the top, hence they act as my usual guide. I will go down to Canadian and UK channels for sports and movies.

I haven’t gone through the Spanish and Latin American channels yet but will be doing so soon.

Movies for me were grouped all weird initially but I figured out you can alphabetize them and that helped immensely.

I’ve found the original Dallas show haha. I’ve also found documentaries that don’t seem to be available almost anywhere such as Ken Burns’ Baseball and The Civil War. So much stuff man.

I would also install a vpn on whichever device you decide to use…it was easy with the fire stick but I’m sure it’s similar for the ONN thing. You’re welcome!

Last question. Do you have to keep one of the ESPN packages to get ESPN+? I would guess so. Also wondered about the VPN.

Well, my guide has a section of ESPN+ channels…offering all types of games. BUT it seems like you have to watch those live. I mean when a game is airing on those I believe you can watch them but it seems like you cannot watch replays with them near as I can tell thus far.
