Idk, of all the streaming companies, Amazon actually makes really good stuff. Unlike Netflix which seems to have trans or gay themes in literally every show.
"Reacher" turned to crap so quickly it hurts. "Rings of Power" looked so unrelentingly dumb that I avoided it like a hangover. I shudder to think of their other offerings...

Agree 100% on Reacher. Very disappointing. I watched maybe half the first episode of Rings and bailed. I have enjoyed Outer Range though. Kind of a peculiar sci fi meets cowboy type show.

Gonna be on Netflix within the next few weeks I think. About President Garfield assassination. Looks good, we’ll see.

Death by Lightning…

If you had not told me it was about his assassination, I would have been shocked to learn he was killed in office.
Maybe at some point I knew that, but I had forgotten.
I would have been just as surprised as Nate Bargatze watching the Pearl Harbor movie.

As an actual doctor, you should read up on that. Garfield should have easily survived the assassin's bullet, but he fell under the spell of a "doctor" who mangled him through months of agonizing "treatments" until he finally died. Not quite Rasputin, but...

The Man Behind The Curtain
Speaking of Presidential assassinations, me and my wife were looking for something to watch a couple of nights back and while still in the spooky season frame of mind settled on Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter. It's about a 6.5/10 movie, but it kept our attention throughout (no social media doom scrolling) and had an interesting premise that didn't try to over explain every aspect of the world. Certainly stole some concepts from Ann Rice and Wild Wild West, and it was obvious the editor had to work through issues (either skill or available material), but it was a great popcorn flick and would recommend as long as you're not looking for an in-depth gothic horror like Nosferatu.

The Man Behind The Curtain
Had a date night with the Mrs. this weekend and we decided on seeing the reboot of The Running Man. For the record, the 80's version is one of my favorite Arnold movies while my wife never really found it interesting (she's not much of a fan of campy films). Coming out of the theatre she really liked it, thought it was fun, and enjoyed the pace and overall plot (which I hear is a lot closer to the actual book, which I never read). I felt like they did less with 35 more minutes of run time, and the entire third act was a rushed hodgepodge of plot devices that did little to properly resolve the story. All of the threads I thought were going to setup a satisfying ending went nowhere and then the ending just sort of… happened. No big build up, no tension, no satisfying moments like the 80's version where the death of each hunter lingers on screen long enough for you to feel something, everything just felt like there was a check box the writers had to satisfy and then on to the next scene.

I'd give it a 5 out of 10, it wasn't horrible, but wasn't great, very forgettable by next month.
